Greensboro artist Southside Miko (@southsidemiko) releases latest EP, ‘Littest On Earth’, which leaves listeners feeling energized and ready to move.
“It’s the first official release for me and I am very excited about it because I am extremely confident in these tracks and I am very pleased with the way they sound,” he said.
His sound can be described as hard-hitting and lively as each track emphasizes his message of being unapologetically you and following your heart.
Behind the release
The theme of the release came to the artist about two years through trying to figure out how to brand and market himself as an artist. “I thought repeatedly about phrases or a group of words that describe me and my performance style the most, which is how I came up with the phrase “Littest On Earth,” he said.
“Everywhere I perform, people tell me that I am the most lit performer that night. So after exploring various titles and phrases, “ Littest On Earth” seemed the most promising.”
Southside Miko explained that the release of the EP is about being confident in yourself, “and believing that you can do what you want to do no matter what things stand in your way. There are always going to be people on this journey of life who are gonna doubt you, hate on you, and not support what you wish to make your reality.”
The artist defined that one of his favorite moments through his time in music has been being able to produce with different members of 808 Mafia. “When I was first learning how to produce beats, I used to watch 808 Mafia cook-up videos for hours. Now, I’m literally working with some of these guys and it just feels unreal, to be honest. To hear that tag start playing on beats I am collaborating on is straight fire to me.”
What’s next from the artist
As far as what’s next for Southside Miko, he says he has some singles in the work as well as producing a collaborative tape with a bunch of artists from North Carolina.
“I plan on going live on Instagram more to add value to the music community because I feel like there’s a lot of people giving game but they’re only giving pieces of the game and not the full picture so I definitely wanna start going live more to help people who may need direction,” he explained. “The goal is to get a bunch of popping artists on my beats and drop a mixtape hosted by a big DJ in my area.”
The artist signed off with Remixd Magazine with a message for fans to just be themselves. “It doesn’t matter where you come from or who you are as long as you’re putting yourself out there and you believe in yourself, anything is possible.”
