Hitmaka is known for having fire beats and even hotter takes about his producer peers. He recently commented on Hit-Boy which sparked a trade of words and bars.
Hitmaka is an elite record producer and songwriter. He began his career as an artist under the name Yung Berg where his debut single “Sexy Lady” made waves across the industry. Since then he has transitioned into a full-time producer, songwriter and executive.
He has production credits on singles such as Lil Durk‘s “Still Trappin“, Layton Greene‘s “Leave Em Alone” and PNB Rock‘s ABCD (Friendzone). Alongside writing credits on hits such as A Boogie wit da Hoodie‘s “Startender“, Chris Brown‘s “Questions” and Big Sean‘s “Bounce Back“.
Besides the astonishing catalogue, the producer has been known to engage in banter with his producer peers.
His current feud resides with Hit-Boy, which started due to Hitmaka comments on Hot 97. The producer was a guest on Ebro in the Morning and stated Hit-Boy music isn’t on the radio.
“See, I’m on the radio. Hit-Boy is not on the radio I love Hit-Boy. Hit-Boy is a legend. He’s a legendary producer. He been doing it way longer than me. He’s a great guy. But I’ma keep it a bean though, if you play the soundtrack to your life for the last four or five years on radio, I know it’s gotta be frustrating with him because our names are so similar, my brother. But Hitmaka. Nah, shout out to Hit-Boy, we love him.”
Hit-Boy was quick to respond with a snippet of a song making comments on the situation.
“I just seen Yung Berg spoke on the wave/I should do him like Trick Trick and snatch hit out of his name, I had the code to the game/I had the coldest of days/I’m like Deebo on his cruiser/How you got no credits with no coproducers?/It’s time to give these ni***s the royal flush/no Roto-Rooter.”
Hit-Boy also poked a jab at Metro Boomin within the same record, rapping “I’m usually homeboys with producers I get compared to, but on this one I want to say I’m stretched out, extra leg room/ I don’t really know dude, he seem like a cool cat/ But I never once heard Metro Boomin do boom bap”
Boomin simply responded with Kendrick Lamar‘s “Rich Spirit” lyrics in a tweet.
Adding more fuel to the diss track he mentioned other producers Mustard and Southside.
Hitmaka responded with a comment on HipHopDX’s Instagram post stating “All I said was he ain’t making radio/mainstream shit and he dissed us on a beat that won’t never touch mainstream or radio. Solidified my statement.” He also jokily compared the record to Kendrick Lamar’s prolific feature on Big Sean’s “Control” where he called out the entirety of hip-hop.
Hitmaka is no stranger to calling out producers, back in 2021 Hitmaka and Mustard traded blows based on who would in a Verzuz. Hitmaka was on The Joe Budden Podcast and boldly stated he could beat Mustard. The two producers ended up engaging in trading tweets and flexing accomplishments.
