In the world of music, boundaries dissolve, and unity thrives. S3LIM (pronounced seh – leem), born in Sydney, Australia, and now residing in Los Angeles, is a dynamic force shaping this unity. In an interview with RemixdMag, S3LIM discusses his artistic evolution to his influences, recent projects, and vision for the future. His sound defies easy categorization. S3LIM describes it as adaptable and diverse. While his music carries elements of soul, jazz, and rock, he primarily delves into Rap, Hip Hop, and RnB. Recently, he even ventured into folk and country, showcasing remarkable versatility.
“As a producer-artist I feel I will deliver different sounding records depending on the artist I’m working with,” he says. “I would say there are elements of soul, jazz, rock across a lot of my music and I’d say I do mostly rap, hip-hop and R&B music. But I also produced my first full folk/country album for an artist not long ago.”
S3LIM’s musical influences are a testament to his eclectic taste. From the soulful D’Angelo to the revolutionary Bob Marley, the creative genius of Pharrell, and the Afrobeat rhythms of Fela Kuti, his inspiration knows no bounds. DJ Khaled’s ability to bring diverse artists together resonates with him deeply. Currently, S3LIM has two singles out “Show Girl” featuring Lil Cobaine and “Matador” featuring Polo Perks. “Show Girl” is rapidly approaching 1 million Spotify streams in just six months, a testament to its magnetic allure. Interestingly, S3LIM finds inspiration for his songs in the conversations he has with collaborators.

“‘Show Girl’ was inspired almost 1 year ago when Cobaine came over to my place we were just chilling talking bout life and music and when we started working the song was born,” S3LIM told RemixdMag. “Sometimes or even often I think those conversations before a song is made, are the ones that set the inspiration for whats to come.”
As for “Matador,” the process came organically through social media!
“‘Matador’ with Perks came about when my friend Jai from Australia put me on to his music and I loved what I heard,” he explained. “When I saw an opportunity to collab over Instagram, I hit him up and we made it happen.”
As for what lies ahead, S3LIM tantalizingly hints at exciting collaborations with renowned artists, keeping details under wraps for now.
Beyond the melodies, S3LIM’s music carries a message of authenticity and self-acceptance. He encourages fans to stay true to themselves and resist societal pressures to conform.
“I hope fans can feel confident to be authentic and true to themselves,” he expresses. “I hope fans can fight the urge to a live a life where they feel like it’s a giant check box and if you don’t do all these things then you’re a failure. Like life’s not that serious bruh. Be you and do you and don’t let life force you into something you’re not.”
