iBXRHM (@ibxrhm) made an impactful return and aims to keep maximum pressure on his journey. Recently the artist released the sexy drill-inspired single “SHE LUV” which offers a refreshing take on the quickly rising sub-genre. Remixd Magazine had the opportunity to speak with iBXRHM about his single.
Born and raised in Toronto, iB creates honest, moody, melodic, ambient and introspective
contemporary R&B, embodying the Toronto sound. His sound is inspired by hometown heroes such as Drake, PartyNextDoor, and The Weeknd. Additionally, he also pulls sonic inspiration from Travis Scott and Lil Wayne.
Using life experiences as the active mood board for his music, iBXRHM shares a piece of himself with the world. “Everyday life inspires me. The people in my life, the interactions, experiencing the world and everything it has to offer. I’ve been able to express and learn about myself through music both as a listener and an artist.”
SHE LUV
On August 14th, the Toronto artist/producer premiered the music video for his buzzing single “SHE LUV” which was released earlier this year. Inspired by the current New York craze Sexy Drill by Cash Cobain, and Chow Lee, iB brings the subgenre up north.
“SHE LUV” is a catchy bop with smooth vocals over a relaxed sexy drill-inspired instrumental. iB shows off various flow and vocal abilities throughout the single while boasting flirtatious and braggadocious bars. The visuals capture the same sentiment showing off the artist shopping, partying and driving around in a Lamborghini. The visuals directed by nkhlsview, offer a fun viewing experience weaving between digital and camcorder footage showing off the lifestyle of iB.
“I was listening to a lot of Cash Cobain, Chow Lee and R2RMoe and wanted to put my own twist to that sound. I’ve been a fan of their music for a while so it was fun to step into that world.”
“SHE LUV” has slowly generated buzz in North America and the UK, tallying over 20,000 streams across DSPs and landing multiple editorial placements such as ‘New In Hip Hop’, ‘The Plug’ and ‘Northern Bars’’.
For fans of sexy drill, iBXRHM shares that another single will be arriving next month with a special feature. He’s also gearing up to release a project later in the year.
