Interview: Emerging rapper/songwriter, JABBAGOTDAJUICE embraces inner supervillain on “April Fool’s”

JABBAGOTDAJUICE's music continues to be a vessel for positivity and creativity.

If you ask me, the Soundcloud era was the last pure music era. This theory can be heavily supported by the fact that some of the best artists in the game right now, got their start off during that time. Emerging Maryland artist, JABBAGOTDAJUICE (@jabbagotdajuice) is a prime example of this, as she was able to begin building her core fan base off of the success of “Flava Freestyle” in 2019. After gaining a local following, she realized that music was her true calling and began taking it seriously in 2021.

“After having my child, I decided to take it seriously and go full-fledged towards it because I wanted to set an example for my daughter.” – JABBAGOTDAJUICE on taking music seriously

Diverse Influences

The Maryland native’s influences are a mixed bag of musical trendsetters, encompassing Nicki Minaj, Missy Elliot, and Avril Lavigne. It’s easy to mistake JABBAGOTDAJUICE for a rapper because she embraces her rockstar roots with her aggressive sound and bold ad-libs. But in actuality, she belongs to no genre, as she prides herself on being versatile. This unique skill set is put at the forefront of her newest release, “April Fool’s.”

Listeners are bound to appreciate how JABBAGOTDAJUICE fully embraces the role of a supervillain on “April Fool’s.” “I believe I am showing another side of me. I am creating a character that laughs through life,” she said. Instead of just accepting the cards life has given to her, she chooses to control her own destiny. “I want people to feel confident,” she added. Typically known for having an aggressive tone, she shows that she doesn’t have to raise her voice to get her point across.

Nevertheless, you can always expect JABBAGOTDAJUICE’s music to be a vessel for positivity and creativity. “Through my work, I invite listeners to reflect with me about how we can find a deeper connection within ourselves and create more space for self-acceptance and love,” she said. Hopefully, she will continue down this path of releasing music that invokes positive change.
