Remixd Magazine: How did you ladies Meet? Did you all know each other prior to auditioning for the group?

A: Kai: LB and I knew each other before the audition and then Mikki and LB have seen each other before the audition so when we all came to their and saw each other it was like.. “Oh My God!” It was really great seeing each other and it took some of the nerves off us as well.

Who are some of your musical influences? Are there any other girl groups overtime that you ladies are influenced by?

A: LB: I am influenced by The Clark Sisters, Tasha Cobbs, SZA, and Billie Eilish.

Kai: one of my biggest influences currently is definitely Doja Cat. She’s so authentic and herself. She’s doesn’t care about what anyone else thinks.

Mikki Vi: My number one is Tyler The Creator since middle school. Just his like wildness and how he just doesn’t care, he’s so like himself. he’s so inspiring and so creative. I love how he really uses all his materials to put together such a banger. its very inspirational.

Speaking of girl groups, you ladies are managed by the Legendary Ian Burke who’s responsible for groups such as TLC he’s worked with Xscape, Arrested Development, OutKast and many more solo acts in the industry. How does it feel to be apart of such an incredible musical legacy and essentially carrying the torch as a fresh new girl group?

A: Mikki Vi: Honestly it feels unbelievable. As much work that we put in and time with Ian, it is so unbelievable that they really cleared the path for us. It’s so surreal and so humbling. We’re just so grateful to be here and have the opportunity to create and wok with each other and make some really creative stuff together.

Being that you ladies are pursuing both school and music, how are you all able to find that balance between career, personal, as well as education?

A: Kai: it really involves brining schoolwork to the studio sometimes. If I’m not recording I’m doing school work. if LB is not recording she’s doing school work. definitely a lot of communication as well. We are really big on communicating with each other like.. Hey I have this essay to do help me out with it and were going to the studio after.

Mikki Vi: And really like scheduling when it comes to studio time and stuff like if we have a test we push back the studio time to study or take the test and just being able to help each other regarding work and doing homework on the was to the studio sometimes. I just graduated High School and coming back from school to the studio I would do my homework in the car on the way there. Just alot of discipline.

How do you ladies maintain your individual styles and preferences with the group’s overall vision?

A: Kai: so our stylist Kwame does a really great job of taking all three of our individual styles and making it cohesive and look like one … We look pretty cool! I love our baggy style but you also see us in the blinged out crop tops. it’s definitely different it’s definitely new and I think it looks really good on stage.

Mikki Vi: Yeah. We are a group but we all have our own individual style that we bring to the table.

LB: I am very tacky when it comes to my hair. I love crazy hairstyles.

Kai: You’re always going to see me with some crazy nails. Long cool crazy designs.

Mikki Vi: I love my huge hair. I love when its very big and huge and I also love crazy eye makeup looks so that’s ho were incorporating it. Im really big on natural hair to represent those girls. *fist motion*

Let’s Transition into your debut single “GHOSTRYDE IT”  congratulations! How does it feel to have made your debut ? tell me about the song and  the inspiration behind it?

A: Mikki Vi: We really wanted to create a a very like.. Dancy song because Gen-Z doesn’t have a lot of dance music out there and were not dancing anymore. Actually moving and actually dancing. We wanted to create something that really gets people dancing and having fun. That was kind of the inspiration behind “Ghostryde it”.

Being a new group, what do you ladies hope listeners take away from your music and overall sound?

A: Kai: Our music is definitely something that we want people to dance to. We want people to feel like “Oh my gosh yes I want to pop and lock and dance to this.” I don’t want to stand in the corner of the party I want to be in the middle of the dance floor” Also in our, We want to talk about alot of real stuff that we’re going through and that we know our peers are also going through and making sure they know they are not alone.

Mikki Vi: We want to tell real store , real life experiences that we’ve gone through but also know there is people going through it as well so not only talking about

Being that you all are relatively new within music what’s a piece of advice you have for anyone else apart of Gen Z who wants to pursue music?

A: Kai: Definitely don’t be afraid to look stupid. It takes time. Don’t be mad at yourself because you’re not getting it right. You have to believe In yourself and have people around you that really believe in you.

Mikki Vi: Music is so … You can start making music in all different types of ways, all different types of styles. You can have certain ideas and turn it into a whole song as long as you put in the work, time, and energy into your work you can go so far.

What can we expect next from you ladies?
