Waka Flocka

After blazing the stage at Lyrical Lemonade’s Summer Smash, Waka Flocka Flame took a moment to reflect on his journey, his influences, and his future endeavors in an interview with Tallie Spencer. Known for hits like “Hard In The Paint,” and ultimately influencing a whole generation of artists, Waka Flocka revealed a deeper, more introspective side as he discussed his personal growth and evolving music career.

When asked about his evolution as a person, Waka Flocka credited much of his growth to his mother, whom he described as his biggest inspiration. “That woman raised 5 boys,” he shared. “I’ve seen her bust through walls … not doors, walls.”

He had just left from watching rapper Ken Carson’s set. When asked about how he felt about Ken Carson and the upcoming music scene, he emphasized that Carson was someone who he truly supported because he’s also a southern boy. Carson, who is also from Atlanta, performed on Sunday during Summer Smash’s final day, and drew in a large crowd during his performance. One of the people who made sure to be there and support was Chief Keef.

Moreover, Waka Flocka emphasized the importance of lifting up new talent. “He’s GONE … outta here,” he recalled telling the rising star when he first met him. This highlights how Waka Flaka has a commitment to supporting the next generation of hip-hop.
