JayDon is only 18, but he’s already doing more than most artists twice his age. The singer, dancer, and actor just released his debut EP Me My Songs & I, and it’s clear he’s stepping into his star era.
You’ve probably seen him before. He had a role in The Lion King (2019) alongside Beyoncé and Donald Glover, and he played Kenny on Tyler Perry’s House of Payne. But now he’s moving from TV screens to playlists, and honestly? It fits him even better.
The 10-track EP is smooth, emotional, and confident. He’s like early Usher with a Gen Z twist. His breakout track “Lullaby” featuring Paradise already went viral, and he performed it live on The Jennifer Hudson Show, which is a flex for any new artist. There’s also “I’ll Be Good,” which samples Usher and has over 1.7 million YouTube views thanks to a choreography-heavy video. On the flip side, “Boujee Baby” adds some Jersey club energy to the mix.
But the new songs are where he really shows range. “Jealous Of The Moon” is raw and vulnerable, while “Don’t Hate Me Now” talks about the guilt of leaving someone you care about. “Brand New” is all about trying to break free from toxic love, something way too relatable.
Overall, Me My Songs & I feels like the kind of debut that makes people stop and pay attention. JayDon is building his own lane with this project.
If he keeps going like this, R&B might have its next young superstar.
