Afropop and R&B sensation Joeboy (@joeboyofficial) has unveiled his latest musical endeavor. The therapeutic EP titled ‘Body, Soul & Spirit,’ is officially out today, November 17 through the global independent label emPawa Africa. This project comes just six months after the success of his critically acclaimed sophomore album, ‘Body & Soul.’ The EP promises to be a soul-searching journey for fans eager to explore the artist’s vulnerable side. With the new music, Joeboy surely has something for every listener. Joeboy stands out prominently in the world of global music and afrobeats as a shining beacon of Nigerian music. He was propelled into the limelight with his 2019 EP Love & Light. He quickly rose to become a teen idol and was fondly christened the “African Pop Star.”
The title ‘Body, Soul & Spirit’ hints at a continuation of the themes explored in Joeboy’s previous album. With this new five-track project serving as a complementary contrast to its predecessor. Building on the themes of adversity and emotional turmoil explored in the album’s final track ‘Halle,’ the EP offers a deep and introspective dive into Joeboy’s personal and emotional landscape.
Opening with the poignant ‘Only God Can Save Me,’ Joeboy grapples with the realization that even those closest to us can falter and let us down. The infectious ’24/7′ provides a moment of solace for the artist. He recognizes the insignificance of many worries in the grand tapestry of life. ‘Telephone’ lays bare Joeboy’s emotional vulnerabilities, delivering an intimate love song dedicated to that one person who provides tranquility amid the trials of a relationship.
Joeboy takes responsibility
In ‘Enemy,’ Joeboy takes responsibility for a broken relationship, confronting his own imperfections amidst the challenges of a tough breakup. The EP concludes on a resilient note with ‘Surviving,’ where Joeboy takes the first steps towards healing and new beginnings.
Reflecting on the inspiration behind ‘Body, Soul & Spirit,’ Joeboy shares, “I have been through a rollercoaster of emotions since the release of my album. From my relationship with God and experiencing the dark side of love to facing betrayal and trying to survive against all odds. I had to dig deep to keep my sanity intact. The songs on this EP embody my journey through this emotionally draining period.”
In a departure from his usual collaborative process, Joeboy recorded this project alone, utilizing his newfound skill of self-recording in the studio. The result is a collection of tracks that authentically capture the artist’s raw emotions. And serve as a testament to his resilience and growth in the face of life’s challenges.
