Meet Jun Skyline, a rising artist based in Vallejo, California with a fresh, distinctive sound.
He recently released a new single on May 15th titled, “Other Side,” which features his daughter, Aria, on the track.
“I wrote the song about slipping into depression, and the light that helps bring me through the other side is my children,” Jun Skyline said.
“Other Side” is a soothing track that allows the listener imagine themselves in a dream-like paradise. Jun Skyline displays his versatility as an artist on the track, and is definitely somebody to keep on your radar. “Other Side” is a great first song to listen to if you’re just becoming familiar with Jun Skyline’s music.
The alternative R&B singer told REMIXD Magazine in an interview that his music journey started at a young age, and that he started pursuing his craft seriously when he was 16. He told REMIXD Magazine that his dad played a major role in helping him make the decision to dedicate himself to his music career.
“I grew up playing keys in church,” Jun Skyline said. “Everyone in my dad’s family either sings or plays an instrument. Both of my parents played R&B and old school soul.”
With a family that had a musical history, it was no doubt that Jun Skyline was able to make his stride into the music industry and hit the ground running. Anyone listening is able to tell that he is passionate about what he creates, and has potential to create his own musical lane.
“I’ve never wanted to do anything other than music. I’m passionate about creating music and bringing people together through it,” the artist said. “There is no other option than to make a living doing what I love.”
Some of his musical influences include Black Street, John P. Kee, Kirk Franklin, Tony! Toni! Toné!, D’Angelo, Erykah Badu, and Dwele.
When asked what he wants people to take away from hearing his music, Jun Skyline answered that he’d like for “people to feel recharged or be transported into a different space.”
