Karri might still be on the come-up, but the 22-year-old Bay Area R&B singer is moving like a star. Fresh off a performance at the UK’s Wireless Festival and the growing success of his single “Oakland Baby,” Karri returns with a smooth, seductive two-pack: “fmyx” and “dirty diana.”
“fmyx” is exactly what it sounds like. Messy, moody, and impossible to turn off. Produced by Bay Area favorite P-Lo, the track pairs Karri’s deep, smoky vocals with snapping drums. It’s a late-night confession masked as a flex. “I might f*** my ex just to remind her how it feels,” he sings. Not so much asking for forgiveness as basking in the chaos. The accompanying music video leans into that toxic energy, with Karri fully in his bag.
The second half of the drop, “dirty diana,” flips the concept. Produced by Noel Cadastre (Drake, 40), the track nods to the iconic MJ song in name, but where Jackson warned Diana to stay away, Karri is pulling her closer. Through the song, Karri wrestles with temptation and the idea of doing better, even if it’s just talk.
These new singles follow Karri’s recent run of lowkey hits. “Oakland Baby” featuring Isaiah Falls has been a fan favorite. Meanwhile, his earlier single, “3AM in Oakland,” went viral in 2023 and hasn’t stopped moving since. That track landed him major co-signs from Drake, Kehlani, Saweetie, and Lil Baby.
With his Late Night Slider Music EP already under his belt and another project coming later this year, Karri is ready to level up again. He’s got the voice, the pen, and the vision. At this point, it’s not a matter of if he takes off. It’s when.
