On the heels of her Halloween-inspired Childs Play EP, kei released “berserk,” highlighting her relentless tenacity. Sonically, this brief record draws from early 2000-inspired R&B elements and hip-hop.
After releasing her debut EP, baby steps in 2021 and terrible twos in 2022, she was quickly embraced by the New England music scene, where she thrived. Following the success of her breakout single berserk, kei delivers her third EP, CHILD’S PLAY, in time for Halloween.
Commanding attention over sinister trap drums, kei’s CHILD’S PLAY is not only deranged as it is braggadocios but also places any doubts about her stardom to rest.
Using a domineering flow, the rapstress details her magnetism before speaking on the talents bestowed upon her.
“I got you hooked/ I know you wonder how I jug, and finesse/The truth is everything I do/Never do to impress/Somehow I just kinda find the words to express, but I digress.”
From there, kei affirms that she’s going to “keep putting in work so this money starts compiling/until there’s assets to my family I’m providing.”
This line is an indication of kei’s all-or-nothing approach toward pursuing her dreams and life in general.
kei then addresses the females who think they’re above her. She proclaims that her lyricism is unmatchable by her peers.
First, she spits

“you just fifthy fifthy/diddy to my city/while you bitches itty bitty,” she raps. “Moving silly/That’s the reason you aint sitting with me.”
The “terrible twos” femcee finishes her competition by promising to “pop sh*t until I make it work.”
