“I just love to create content and to help people in anyway that I can. Whether that be through music, laughs, education, life advice … it doesn’t matter,” King Scorpio said. “It’s always made me feel complete to help others whenever I can.”
Meet rising, independent artist King Scorpio who’s just getting started but already heating things up. The up-and-coming R&B singer just released his first full-length project titled Lost Love Found Soul, which showcases his talent and versatility as an artist.
“This is my first EP and it’s a telling of the ending and aftermath of my latest relationship and the preceding flings and escapades,” King Scorpio said in a recent interview with Remixd Magazine.
Throughout the project, standout songs such as “Fire & Desire,” “Don’t Go,” and “Lonely Nights” serve as a testament to King Scorpio’s talent and tell the narrative of love, and love-loss.
“I speak about how I dealt with the pain I caused my ex and how the unfortunate situation affected us both,” he said of the EP. “Also I talk about the coping mechanisms I chose to cling to as my escapes.”
King Scorpio describes his sound as being “pop R&B, neo soul, and melodic rap/singing,” with some of his main inspirations being The Weeknd, Drake, 6lack, Tory Lanez, and Jhene Aiko. The singer is truly in a lane of his own with a unique sound and melody that is powerful and authentic.
His newest EP shows audiences exactly what he is capable of, and he has made it clear that he doesn’t plan on stopping any time soon.

What city are you from?
I’m from Columbus, Georgia and am currently based in Aberdeen, Maryland. Being an army brat, I’ve lived in several places and it certainly broadened my interests.
How did you get your artist name King Scorpio?
Essentially I wanted to be the best Scorpio of my generation, “The King.” I recognize Drake as the top Scorpio of his generation and I want to be in that position as I continue to grow as a musician and artist.
At what point in your life did you decide to pursue a career in music?
I’ve actually known that I wanted to pursue music at very early point … 5th grade to be exact. That’s when I started the process of joining band and I fell in love with music. I originally wanted to be in the army band, but as my interests evolved and my abilities flourished, I decided to go a different route.
Has your upbringing played a role in shaping who you are and defining your sound today? If so, how?
I feel as though being an army brat and living in so many places and getting to experience different cultures has made me more open to other sounds and influences. Also my mom has been playing classic rap and R&B for me since before I was born. She used to say I was dancing in her womb on long trips to DMX. It’s given me an appreciation and respect for music from her era and onward.
How would you describe your sound to readers who may not be familiar with you?
I would say I hang in the realm of pop, R&B, neo-soul, and melodic rap/singing. Most of the artists that inspire me switch between these lanes and it’s certainly had an influence on the genres I decided to call home. Depending on which songs you listen to it’s rather easy to draw parallels between my sound and my influences.
What ultimately inspired you to dedicate yourself to a music career?
When I went to college for cyber security and realized how depressing and soul crushing the prospect of doing this for the next 40 years of my life. Just learning the craft itself and being in a college setting took a huge hit to my mental health and happiness. I realized I couldn’t do it anymore. I have to do what’s going to make me happy.
What’s one reason you are passionate about music and what inspires you?
It may sound cliche but music is my therapy. I’ve been living with bipolar disorder and suicidal thoughts since I was 14. If I didn’t have music ,I wouldn’t be here today. Being able to expose the most sensitive and intimate part of myself on an instrumental and evoke emotions out of my listeners is so freeing and makes me the happiest. There’s no better feeling than finishing a song and knowing you got everything just right after working on it non-stop for days.
Do you have any hobbies outside of music? What do you do to stay creative?
I am an avid parkour enthusiast, a rising Tik Tok entertainer, and an educator. I just love to create content and to help people in any way that I can. Whether that be through music, laughs, education, or life advice — it doesn’t matter. It’s always made me feel complete to help others whenever I can. I’m also a huge anime fan. Catch me watching a new anime and constantly adding to my list of shows to watch anytime you talk to me.
What’s next for you? Are you working on any upcoming projects we should be on the lookout for?
I am currently working on my next project and some singles that will be released intermittently. As for my latest project, I plan on making music videos for at least two of the songs and making content on Tik Tok to bring more of my music to my other audiences.
What message do you hope fans take away from your music?
I just want my fans to have a better understanding of my mind and the chaos that goes on up there. Of course I make music for my own personal therapy, but I also do it for the enjoyment of others. They seem to love it and I’m glad I can create something that touches people. So I just hope they can identify with what I sing and know I’m documenting my pain and struggles as a human.
