LeGree Shine channels 90s R&B soul with emotional resonance on debut single “He’s For The Streets”

Hailing from the vibrant city of Pensacola, FL, with roots tracing back to Stockton, CA, LeGree Shine (@legreeshine) emerges as a powerful voice in the contemporary music landscape. Currently residing in the scenic Marina Del Rey, this songstress brings a fresh perspective to the realm of R&B. She infuses her music with soulful melodies and emotive storytelling.

“My artist name is LeGree Shine; my name is Melissa LeGree and my Daddy’s name is Michael Shine. He’s the best thing that ever happened to me! My artist name is just our names combined,” she revealed to Remixd Magazine. “It’s how I pay homage to my Shine family.”

Moreover, describing her sound as reminiscent of 90s R&B, soulful, and filled with emotion, LeGree Shine draws inspiration from a diverse range of musical influences. “Singing is in my DNA. My uncles (my mother’s brothers) have been my greatest influences: Henry Ingram, James Ingram, and Phillip Ingram (Switch). I also love Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, and Deborah Cox,” she shares. Highlighting the rich tapestry of musical influences that shape her unique style.

For LeGree Shine, music serves as a source of empowerment, offering a refuge in times of turmoil. “I’ve gone through so much in my life,” she says. “I’ve experienced so many levels of pain, confusion, rejection, and just outright disrespect. Music has always been my comfort. Music listens to me, understands me, and reminds me that there is beauty in tragedy.”

Her debut single, “He’s For The Streets,” produced by Local Astronauts, dives into the complexities of modern relationships. She explores themes of infidelity and accountability. “This song highlights him stepping out and transitioning from one female to the next and how messy that can be. But it also shows her accountability; women are just as much a part of their demise. They just may not want to admit it,” LeGree Shine explains.

Furthermore, looking ahead, she teases an upcoming EP. She says the EP will dive into her personal experiences and outlook on life and love. Through her music, LeGree Shine hopes to connect with listeners on a profound level, offering a message of hope and resilience. “I want my fans to know that there is someone out there that understands what they are going through. Also, to hold on because there is light at the end of these tunnels. We’re gonna get there together,” she affirms, embodying the spirit of solidarity and perseverance.
