Lil Durk has now reached the top of the charts as 7220 is now #1 on the Billboard 200. The Voice already earned his first #1 with the collab project Voice of the Heroes last summer with Lil Baby. Now, the OTF honcho has earned his first #1 as a solo artist.
The news was released with a tweet from Chart Data that was posted yesterday afternoon. The music news publication said that Lil Durk moved 120,000 units with 7220 in its first week, enough for the #1 spot. Durkio wasted no time with taking to Twitter to celebrate, comparing himself to Stephen Curry because of his recently consisently hitmaking abilities.
As of right now, the streak that Lil Durk is on doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon. His countless standout songs and guest appearances earned him the most Billboard Hot 100 entries last year. His superstardom is currently at an all-time high, as Durk himself recognizes he’s become bigger than Drake “in the trenches.” Now, the Chicago superstar is adding his first solo #1 album to his collection of accolades.
For fans ready to hear the album live, Lil Durk will be hitting the road soon for the 7220 tour. Since it was first announced in January, the highly-anticipated tour began to instantly sell out shows, including one at the United Center in his hometown city of Chicago. The seventeen-city tour will make its first stop in Phoenix on April 8th.
It’s already seeming Durkio plan to collect another #1 album after Metro Boomin spoke on their rumored collab album. The producer confirmed it after a Twitter fan asked if the anticipated No Auto Durk album was still coming. It’s possible that the two can begin working on the project soon now, given Durk’s recent release of 7220. The status of the collab effort is unclear, but Metro said they spoke about it the other day. When DJ Akademiks posted the exchange on Instagram, Durk seemed to confirm the album being in the works, commenting “nobody safe” on the post.
