Lil Wayne Announces ‘Tha Carter VI’ Release Date

Can this be one of hip-Hop’s biggest moments of 2025?

After years of speculation and anticipation, Lil Wayne has officially announced that Tha Carter VI will drop on June 6th, 2025. The long-awaited sixth installment in his legendary album series is finally on the horizon, sending fans into a frenzy. Ever since Tha Carter V arrived in 2018, following its own set of delays, supporters have been excited to see where Weezy takes the next chapter of his career. Now, with a date locked in, the countdown begins for what promises to be another major moment in hip-hop history.

Album announcement and the Super Bowl snub

‘What makes this announcement even more intriguing is its timing. Lil Wayne revealed Tha Carter VI’s release date while also confirming that he would not be performing at this year’s Super Bowl halftime show. The debate between Weezy and Kendrick Lamar for the coveted halftime slot had been swirling for months, but Wayne made it clear that he has nothing but respect for K.Dot. Instead of stepping onto the NFL stage, he’s stepping fully into album mode. Keeping his focus locked on the music.

Lil Wayne is unstoppable

Beyond Tha Carter VI, Lil Wayne has been strategically lining up moves that build anticipation for the album’s release. First up is a highly-anticipated remix of “Tweaker”, the viral hit by LiAngelo Ball, which dropped at midnight on February 7th. The original track took over social media with its nostalgic 2000s-inspired production, and fans have been waiting to hear how Wayne puts his signature spin on it. Could this be a preview of what’s to come with Tha Carter VI?

Additionally, Wayne continues to celebrate hip-hop’s future. Especially within his own family. He recently made an appearance in the music video for his 15-year-old son Lil Novi, rapping along with fatherly pride as his son delivered hard-hitting verses. It’s a full-circle moment, reminding fans that while Lil Wayne’s influence spans generations, he’s still very much an active force in the game.

‘Tha Carter VI

As many of us know, Lil Wayne has nothing left to prove. His name is already etched in hip-hop history. But if his past releases have taught us anything, it’s that every new Carter installment is a statement. From lyrical acrobatics to game-changing flows, Wayne has a track record of delivering projects that shape the culture.

Nonetheless, with Tha Carter VI now just months away, the question isn’t if Lil Wayne will dominate 2025, it’s how he’ll do it. If this next chapter is anything like the ones before it, the rap world better be ready. With that being said, June 6th can’t come fast enough.
