Just a little over a year after his last album WASTELAND was released, Brent Faiyaz has returned with his latest full length work Larger Than Life. Following the day of its surprise announcement, Brent has pressed the gas by releasing the album immediately. On Thursday, Brent took to instagram teasing the album with a short trailer featuring a male selling CD’s with Brent’s new album cover featured on them. The posts’ caption read “14 songs. Midnight,” along side a phone emoji confirming its official release.
Brent Faiyaz teases new project
Initially, Brent teased the album with a few singles. The R&B crooner track “Moment of Your Life” featuring Coco Jones was released in August. Additionally, he released the latest single “WY@” in September. Both singles were accompanied by visuals and created anticipation for Brent’s newest work.
The album Larger Than Life consists of 14 tracks of pure vibes. This album features a few guest appearances from artists such as Babyface Ray, A$AP Rocky, Missy Elliot, and several more surprises. The album cover features an oversized shoe stepping over a populated city, emphasizing the albums’ title. Brent shamelessly plugs his new 90s inspired clothing line, Nuwo, on the bottom of the shoe. 90s nostalgia sets the ton for this project as the beginning track, “Tim’s Interlude,” features spoken word from legendary producer Timbaland. Additionally, the song features a sample from “No Scrubs” by TLC.
Remaining true to his artistry, Brent includes a series of skits as apart of this project as tracks such as “Big Mad Skit” and “Dawged ‘Em Skit,” that add to the story telling. The album also aligns with Brent’s signature R&B sound. Larger Than Life also marks Brent’s first project released under his latest partnership with United Masters.
Brent’s WASTELAND era
Moreover, this album follows Brent’s successful 2022 release WASTELAND. The project Wasteland featured artists such as Alicia Keys, Tyler The Creator, Drake, and The Neptunes among others. Additionally, the album debut at number two on the Billboard Top 200 chart. The album also is certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
Furthermore, Brent is currently on his European leg of his “F**k The World, It’s a Wasteland” tour which name is inspired by his past two previous albums. This new project comes as a great surprise to fans of Faiyaz. What are your thought on the latest album from Brent Faiyaz?
