Founded in June 2021 by sisters Lanie and Char Edwards in Los Angeles, Black on the Block has become a cultural movement, providing a space for Black entrepreneurs to thrive while fostering economic empowerment. The festival curates an immersive shopping experience featuring over 100 Black-owned businesses spanning fashion, jewelry, skincare, technology, and art. Attendees can explore a diverse marketplace while enjoying a vibrant atmosphere complete with live music, gaming, dance battles, impactful activations, and a dynamic food court showcasing Black culinary excellence.

Beyond the festival, Black on the Block also champions long-term economic growth through its Black on the Block Community Outreach, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. This initiative offers vendor fee grants, business training, funding opportunities, and vital resources designed to uplift Black entrepreneurs.

Moreover, with Live Nation Urban’s expansive network and expertise, the festival’s reach will significantly increase, allowing even more Black-owned businesses to gain exposure and connect with broader audiences. The expansion ensures that more communities nationwide will have access to this one-of-a-kind experience, strengthening the foundation of Black entrepreneurship and fostering cultural growth.

As Black on the Block prepares for its ambitious 2025 expansion, the partnership with Live Nation Urban underscores a shared commitment to economic empowerment, cultural celebration, and community upliftment. Thus, with the momentum behind them, this collaboration is set to make a lasting impact on Black business owners and the communities they serve.
