Luck is officially done—with you, your excuses, and anything less than she deserves.
The rising alt-R&B songstress returns with her bold new single, “Done With You” featuring Phabo. The song is an empowering anthem rooted in self-worth and personal growth. In an interview with Remixd Magazine, Luck (@iamluck) opens up about the track’s origin, sharing that it was born from a pivotal season of transformation.
Thus, she was “done” with settling for a life that she didn’t want.
“I wrote this song 5 years ago,” Luck explains. “During a time when I was at the beginning of an awakening of self and journeying to wholeness.”
She continued to explain that her music offers a perspective that comes from searching within.
“My music is about self empowerment, self improvement, and celebrating yourself,” Luck continues. “And offering a perspective that leans into looking within instead of outside validation. I didn’t always have this perception, and I didn’t always believe what God believed about me. There have been many times when I fell short of my godly design.”
The song “Done With You,” became an anthem of personal growth, as she realized she needed to break free from decisions that kept her in situations lower than her worth.
To bring this deeply personal track to life, she recruited Phabo, an artist whose writing sensibility and vocal texture perfectly matched her vision. It’s clear that this song, and her entire musical journey, is an invitation for listeners to look within for validation rather than relying on outside sources.
Ultimately, her hope is that listeners will connect with her music on a personal level, finding pieces of themselves in every song.
“When people listen to my music, they can expect a trip of genres,” Luck says. “And expect to find a piece of themselves in every song. I hope that the honesty in the music will allow them to know that they’re not alone.”
Luck’s music is an invitation to look inward and embrace healing. And for anyone on that path, Luck is right there with you.
