Los Angeles-based artist Lyric Jones is kicking off 2025 with a fresh new sound, dropping her latest single, “In Due Time.” The track, which fuses house-inspired four-on-the-floor rhythms with Jones’ signature lyrical finesse, marks a new creative chapter for the multi-hyphenate singer, DJ, and rapper.
The journey to “In Due Time” began nearly two years ago when Jones originally wrote the song over a different instrumental. She shelved the track for some time before revisiting it with producer Ian Wallace, who helped reshape the production into its current form. After a series of remote collaboration sessions, the final piece of the puzzle came together when Jones connected with rapper UHMEER at DJ Jazzy Jeff’s PLAYLIST retreat. The meeting solidified UHMEER’s feature on the track, giving it the finishing touch Jones had envisioned.
Lyric Jones Shares Inspiration Behind Music
“Initially, this song was just a demo with a rap verse by me,” Jones shared with Remixd Magazine. “I eventually reworked the lyrics to fit seamlessly with the new production ideas Ian sent over, then we finalized it over a few Zoom sessions together. The real breakthrough came after my first in-person meeting with UHMEER at DJ Jazzy Jeff’s most recent PLAYLIST retreat late last year. While I had already been familiar with UHMEER’s awesome work, it was here where I finally met him in person and reconnected with Ian. And the rest is history.”
Lyrically, “In Due Time” is a testament to Jones’ perseverance, reflecting on the patience and dedication required to reach new heights in her career. “Everyone always says, ‘In due time,’ ‘Keep going’—that’s been my life’s anthem,” she explains. “This song is me holding onto hope that my hard work and connections aren’t for nothing.”
The single arrives on the heels of Jones’ standout Warm Audio performance at the 2025 NAMM Show, signaling a promising year ahead for the genre-blending artist. With “In Due Time,” she continues to evolve musically, embracing new sonic landscapes while staying true to her roots.
