Already mastered for pulling at our heartstrings through decades worth of monumental music and now television through the lenses of STARZ’s Power Book II: Ghost, Mary will continue to push the culture and move the masses with her most recent endeavor. This time, Mary J. Blige signed on to host her first talk show, The Wine Down, which premiered on BET earlier in 2023.
In 2022, Mary unveiled her 14th studio album, Good Morning Gorgeous album which she’s currently on a 23-city tour for. Additionally, the “Come See About Me” singer slayed her Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show letting fans know that she’s not letting up anytime soon!
Following up all things Good Morning Gorgeous and more, Mary is gearing up to ring in the new year with more raved news! As a result, 2023 is setting up to be an entrepreneurial year for Mary J. Blige. The new inked deal serves as Mary’s introduction into Talk Show TV and she’s hitting the ground running! As part of the new partnership GRAMMY and Emmy Award winner will create a new talk show courtesy of BET Network called, The Wine Down. The collaborative series which is already in the works…
“will bring together the hottest, most outspoken, highly sought-after people in entertainment, sports, social media, and politics” for “raw, provocative, insightful, and real conversations over wine”.
In fact, this new creative collaboration creates a new platform to shine light on the singer’s wine label, Sun Goddess. Mary J Blige launched her wine label back in 2020 alongside Italian winemaker Marco Fantinel. Additionally, Blige’s Blue Butterfly production company has signed a first-look scripted TV deal with Lionsgate Television, thus the BET deal. The television deal comes just one month after Blige received six Grammy nominations. Including ‘Album of the Year’ and ‘Record of the Year’. More so, Amazon Studios’ documentary Mary J. Blige’s My Life was the first Blue Butterfly feature. The company also held the first-ever Strength of a Woman Festival and Summit in Atlanta in May 2022.
Mary J. Blige is already an undisputed music icon. But, rather than resting on her laurels, the Queen of Hip-Hop/Soul is breaking new ground in the television and film industries. MJB’s most recent venture sees her continuing on that path in a big way. Speaking on the pact, Connie Orlando, BET’s EVP of Specials, Music Programming & Music Strategy goes on to say:

As for episode 2, Mary had a one-on-one with the forever ‘Get Rich or Die Tryin’ musical mogul and entrepreneur, 50 Cent. The two give each other their flowers. As they discuss the transition from music, to acting, and remaining hustlers , clap backs on social media and more while remaining true to themselves.
