However in this generation, following Megan Thee Stallion’s ballooning fame, there is extra scrutiny and attention being vested in in not only Houston, Texas for the next standout, but Dallas too – and we think we’ve found her.
Rapstress, model, social media influencer and all-round hyphenate KeMarilyn Chanel born Ke’Erica Russell is Dallas’ not-so diamond in the dirt. Her festooning character and showmanship are magnetic – hence her enormous Tik Tok following of short of half a million. Her music, the product “listening to what my mom put me on when growing up” consists of some sprinkles of Bey, Nicki Minaj, to more soulful expressers in Lauryn Hill, India Arie, but to name a few – are the reason she has accumulated a healthy following on social media platforms like streaming platforms Spotify and so on. Her Instagram also goes on to stress how great she is with using social media to spread her message across whether visually or on song.

I have always been passionate about music. Music has always been around me. Everyone in my family is musical in some way . I grew up having music in every moment of my life. From
listening to music when I’m in the car , at school , while I sleep , while I eat , everywhere . I am inspired by music itself, but mainly God and the beauty and art that comes from God through music” KeMarilyn shares.
Her musical exploits began in 2018 putting out the single “I’m Good Luv Enjoy”. Prior to, she had ambitions to be America’ Next Top Model. Music came as a surprise only for her to realize it was her true passion. Entering the fray as an R&B artist with projects such as R&B tinged Toxic, but her transition to Rap was inevitable and her 2023 release will debut this evolution fully.

Fly Girl Era EP
Following the numerous changes and experiences, she will be immersing herself in a Hip Hop forward EP that will see her put her skills out there. Using music as a tool to bring self-awareness, she hopes to empower more people through her music to be the best version of themselves through being honest in her music.
“I am currently promoting my Debut Hip-Hop EP “ FLYGIRL ERA” dropping February 2023 . My come-up inspired this tape . I wanted to include realness and rawness and introduce KeMarilyn Chanel essence to the rap game ” she opens up on her new music tentatively.
Gingerly she asks her fans “to trust the process” but remains adamant it will be worth the wait as she cooks a storm. She also shares what they can expect:
“In this project, I spoke on things I felt my audience could not only relate to , but can feel . My come up included so many ups and downs and lessons , and I included those in this EP . This year I plan to continue to share my realness to the world . This is just my debut Hip-Hop EP , but it doesn’t sound or feel like I’m a rookie to the game.”
