Released on July 26, 2024, reign is more than just an album. It’s a reflection of Saanvi’s personal transformation. According to Saanvi, the project was born from her experiences navigating life’s ups and downs after gaining newfound independence during her first year of college. She describes the album as a way to process emotions—whether manifesting hopes for the future or confronting moments of struggle. Thus, for Saanvi, the act of writing became a healing outlet that helped her find happiness and peace within herself.
“The album begins with the grief and anger that accompany loss,” she explains. “But as it progresses, it moves toward acceptance and peace, showing the reinvention that happens when you step into your own power.”
This emotional depth and authenticity are reflected in her sound, which she describes as “a mix between pop and R&B.” With laid-back rhythms layered alongside bursts of more energetic instrumentation, her music mirrors both the quiet moments of introspection and the more dramatic highs and lows of life.
Musical Influences and Inspirations With Saanvi
Moreover, Saanvi’s musical influences are as eclectic as her style. Ranging from the soulful vulnerability of SZA and Amy Winehouse to the ethereal storytelling of Lana Del Rey and Ariana Grande. But her passion for music was sparked much earlier—singing along to Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez on a DVD player as a child and performing for an audience of stuffed animals.
“I’ve always used music as a way to process my feelings,” she shares. “It’s a universal language that allows us to connect, no matter how different we are. I want to create music that gives others the same emotional outlet that music has given me.”
