Independent artist Taye Suavé is transitioning into a new lane of music with his new track “Heaven in Bed.” The Memphis-native is taking his craft seriously and wants to put out music that audiences from all over the world can relate to. The new single is Suavé’s first song on available on all DSPs and it marks his transition from solely a rap artist that’s entering into a trap/R&B realm.
Prior to this release, the independent talent has released a mixtape called “FARCRY,” which is a project that introduces audiences to his rap sound. Now, transitioning into a new lane, Taye Suavé is showing people that he’s capable of versatility.
When asked about one reason he is passionate about music and what inspires him, Suavé answered, “One reason I am passionate about making music is because of the process behind creating it.”
“I love to create something out of nothing. As a musical artist we are in the same as a painter –who is also an artist. Most artists start off with a blank canvas and it is up to the artist to fill in the blank with their creative minds. Creating out of a place of expression inspires me to make music for those who can relate to my art.”

What city are you from/ Where are you based now?
I was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee. I am based in the city of Memphis.
What is your artist name? What is your real name? How did you get your artist name?
My real name is Martavious. My artist name is Taye Suavé. Many would pronounce my stage name as “Suave” but it means almost the exact same thing to me. When I first started making music in high school I was known as Young Tay but my mother would tell me I won’t be young for ever so I decided to change it. I kept the first part of my stage name because it was one of my nicknames.
At what point in your life did you decide to pursue a career in music?
Personally, I first started to pursue music in the 9th grade. My writing skills started to get better and I used to memorize my lyrics for rap sessions in classrooms and the cafeteria. It wasn’t until the next year I convinced my mother to allow me to pursue making music. My mom didn’t believe I could actually rap until I played her one of my songs I recorded by myself at the time. At the age of 15, my mother was my manager and she supported my talent and assisted me with catching performance time inside and outside the city.
Has your upbringing played a role in shaping who you are and defining your sound today? If so, how?
My upbringing has played a huge role into shaping who I am today. My sound of music can definitely be described by the way I was brought up. Music comes in different shapes and varieties. Memphis as a city has its own sound of music. As much as I love the Memphis sound, I felt I had to step outside of the box and become different with my own original sound.
How would you describe your sound to readers who may not be familiar with you?
Far cry describes my sound completely. Far cry means different. There’s no telling how I will come on any project I am present on. My top genres I plan to be associate with in the industry is hip-hop, rock, and pop with my own little twist.
