North Carolina-based musician Neb Hagos ebbs and flows through the R&B scene with a fresher perspective on all things relating to self-growth and relationships.
Instead of opting for a more mainstream sound, Neb’s lyrics are dissected through an ambient style for the genre of his choice. The context found on each record derives from his stream of consciousness. Overall, the “INFERNO” creator is a trailblazer to look out for in the ever-evolving music industry. Flipping through his discography, you’ll be inspired to leave a fire-emoji-worthy review.
Neb Hagos’ latest single is introduced by a high-pitched sample of Clara La San‘s “Let You Go.” Ten seconds in, he recites the lyrics along with Clara before dropping some of his own.
Turning to his red cup for comfort, Neb Hagos finds himself longing for a woman who stands out from the crowd. Hago’s soothing vocal range and transparent words evoke his strong feelings toward this bombshell.
Seemingly uninterested in other admirers, Neb Hagos focuses more on what’s drawn him closer to his crush. The liquor provokes a burning desire to please this woman’s body and soul.

What city are you from? Where are you based now?
Charlotte, NC
How would you describe your sound to readers who may not be familiar with you?
My sound has an atmospheric approach, whether it’s r&b or pop. It takes you to another place or a place you once were. I’m a very diverse person when it comes to genres, so anything you hear from me will always be different.
What’s one reason you are passionate about music, and what inspires you?
I’m passionate about music because it brings people together, which I think is beautiful. A debate between artists, love for artists, or hate for artists, always seems to be a discussion. The ability to send a message and inspire others consistently inspires me to make music. Different settings always give me new perspectives on life, so that’s how I view my music.
Who are some of your main musical influences?
Growing up, my main influences were MJ, Prince, Marvin Gaye, Kanye West, Sade, Frank Ocean, The Weeknd, and Justin Timberlake. I tell people every time that if it weren’t for a Weeknd concert in 2016, I probably wouldn’t be making music right now. His ability to capture the crowd that night inspired me to go further in music.
What is your latest song “Control” about in your own words?
This project is about a specific moment at a party where I’m utterly intoxicated with this girl, and we get away from the party. Later on, a sexual encounter between us happens, and it involves more substance use. At that moment, we both felt in control of one another, which inspired the name of this track.
What’s next for you?
I’m putting an EP together that’s widely diverse. So trust that there will be something there for everyone. I also have a video for “Control” in the works. In the meantime, I have another release in February titled “One Last Dance,” which has more of a dance style.
What message do you hope fans take away from your music and this project?
I want fans to know that I’m here to entertain and elevate you. I want to always give you real music with real meaning and substance. Overall a good time! I don’t plan on going anywhere but the sky.
