New Music Friday Picks
Key Glock – ‘Glockaveli’ (Album)
Kicking things off, Key Glock returns with his highly anticipated album Glockaveli. The project draws inspiration from the late Tupac’s 1996 release, Makaveli. Sonically it’s all Glock, but Pac’s dynamic mentality shines through, as he connects with larger Machiavellian themes such as a prince stepping into his throne. Key Glock delivers 18 tracks with no features, staying true to his solo style. The album includes previously released singles such as “No Sweat,” “3AM in ToKEYo,” and “The Grinch.”
DDG – ‘Blame The Chat’ (Album)
After a year-long break from full-length projects, DDG unveils his latest body of work, ‘Blame The Chat.’ The 15-track album features guest appearances from BIA, Ty Dolla \$ign, DaBaby, and more. Highlights include the viral hit “Pink Dreads” featuring PlaqueBoy Max, and the high-energy single “Motion” with DaBaby.
Ro$ama – “Orange Tape”
Rising Texas rapper Ro\$ama shares his latest project, ‘Orange Tape.’ The seven-track release is led by the standout single “Show Me The Money” featuring That Mexican OT. Despite its concise tracklist, the tape is packed with features from BigXthaPlug and Duke Deuce, offering a hard-hitting, Southern-infused sound.
Yeat – “Feel No Way”
Yeat throws it back to the summer of ’16 with “Feel No Way,” a creative cover of Drake’s popular single “Feel No Ways.” Maintaining the original instrumental, Yeat puts his own spin on the track, incorporating his signature computerized vocals while preserving the song’s nostalgic tone.
Quavo & Takeoff – “Dope Boy Phone”
Quavo reunites with Takeoff on the posthumous release “Dope Boy Phone.” The track evokes a sense of nostalgia, taking fans back to their ‘Unc & Phew’ era. With its trap-heavy vibe, the song explores themes of hustle and wealth, serving as a poignant and powerful tribute.
Summer Walker – “Spend It”
After much anticipation, Summer Walker returns with her latest single, “Spend It,” along with a music video. The track reflects her love for luxury living, a theme embedded throughout the lyrics. Alongside the main release, she also shared two alternative versions of the song, offering fans multiple vibes to enjoy. The two versions are “Spend It (Diamonds & Pearls Version)” and “Spend It (Rent is Due Version).” It’s a sultry, unapologetic anthem that ushers in a brand-new era for the chart-topping artist.
Aminé – “Vacay”
Aminé drops his feel-good new single “Vacay,” showcasing his playful, colorful wordplay. Centered around the theme of escape and relaxation, the track serves as the third single from his upcoming album, 13 Months of Sunshine.
Mariah The Scientist – “Burning Blue”
Mariah The Scientist returns with the heartfelt ballad “Burning Blue.” The single began to gain traction last month when a snippet went viral on TikTok. On the track, Mariah expresses her yearning to be close to a distant lover, capturing deep emotional vulnerability. “Burning Blue” is definitely an anthem for the girls!
