New Music Friday: The best new music featuring Jhené Aiko, BigXthaPlug/Post Malone, Key Glock, and more

The best new music from the week of November 21st!

It’s New Music Friday! Needless to say, this is another week filled with dope releases from all types of artists. With that in mind, this week of New Music Friday is bound to blow your expectations. This week’s features standout releases from Jhene Aiko, BigXthaPlug, Key Glock, and many more. Read on to find the latest tracks and albums that dropped this week.

New Music Friday Picks

Jhené Aiko – “Break”

Given that it’s been a while since Jhené last dropped, the bar was set so high and she still delivered. In fact, “Break” couldn’t have come at a better time, as recent rumors have begun to swirl regarding her possible split with Big Sean. Hopefully, this means we are getting a new album very soon, as it is a proven fact that artists make their best music after becoming newly single.

BigXthaPlug – “Cold” ft Post Malone

As a result of BigXthaplug’s mainstream emergence, country-infused rap has made its return. His new single, “Cold” tries a little too hard to pander to the other side with a feature from the ultimate panderer, Post Malone. At the same time, it’s somewhat respectable how dedicated he is to being more than just a rapper. This song definitely will help him accomplish that while also alienating his core fans.

Key Glock – “A+”

Arguably, Key Glock seems to be having one of the best years for a rapper in recent memory. Hoping to continue that momentum, he dropped “A+,” and it definitely felt like he gave his best effort. Certainly, it helps to be gifted one of the most coldest yet laidback beats that he’s ever spit on. Per usual, he does what he knows best and effortlessly flows.

Rapper’s Delight

Rico Nasty – “PEPPER”

Without a doubt, it’s safe to say Rico Nasty is back and this next run of hers is personal. Despite disappearing for some time, “PEPPER” makes me believe that she has returned to form. In addition, we get to see her reunite with her go-to producer, Kenny Beats, and they have a musical bond that can’t be broken.

Ben Reilly – ‘SAVE!’ (Album)

Without question, an artist’s debut album can make or break their career, especially rappers. ATL-based lyricist, Ben Reilly, understood the assignment for his debut and used it as an opportunity to plant his flag. With features from niche artists like Westside Boogie or Zyah Belle, this 15-track album tells a cohesive story of who Ben is and how his flashes of greatness have him destined for mainstream success.

R&B Corner

Odeal – ‘The Fall That Saved Us’ (EP)

As a result of releasing ‘The Fall That Saved Us,’ you can almost guarantee that Odeal will soon be nominated at the Grammys for Best New Artist. For him to be so early in his career, he’s shown that he understands his audience and what they expect from him. He has easily positioned himself as the future of Afro-pop-R&B.

Fih – “crashOutt”

Although, the term “crashout,” has been overused in recent light, rising artist, Fih perfectly encapsulated the term in her new single. Produced by Ken Samson, he lays the groundwork for Fih to tap into her emotional songwriting and pour out her heart. For that reason, I’m even more excited for the five singles she has in store that will explore her experience with toxic relationships.

pastels – “Sugar Lychee” ft Jessica Domingo

To conclude this edition of New Music Friday, we have a late-night slow jam from LA-based producer, pastels, and Seattle-based vocalist, Jessica Domingo. Their signature sound has been cultivated over the years and multiple collaborations leading up to this moment. “Sugar Lychee” keeps the duo’s collaborative streak going while providing an opportunity for them to introduce new sounds.

We hope you enjoyed this week’s edition of New Music Friday!
