New Music Friday: The best new music featuring Ari Lennox, Flo Milli, YKNIECE, and more

The best new music from the week of January 23rd

It’s New Music Friday! In general, January has lived up to the hype and surpassed everyone’s expectations. Not only is the music banging, but boundaries are also being pushed. This week’s edition of New Music Friday features standout releases from Ari Lennox, Flo Milli, YKNIECE, and many more. Read on to find the latest tracks and albums that dropped this week.

New Music Friday Picks

Ari Lennox – ‘Vacancy’ (Album)

Despite all the past hate she’s ever received, Ari Lennox has gifted us an undeniable body-of-work. It should be noted that her working with Jermaine Dupri has done wonders for her career and given her another resurgence. In short, anyone who has ever doubted her has no choice but to eat their words. For this reason, there is a new heir to the R&B and anyone who wants her spot has to come correct.

Flo Milli – “Flo Jackson”

As shown throughout history, quality will always beat quantity. In fact, this sentiment did not hold any weight for Flo Milli, as her hiatus has caused her music quality to dip. However, with it being this early in the year, she can easily bounce back with the right single.

YKNiece – “GOIN ON”

At this time, there may not be a more viral Atlanta artist than YKNIECE. With this in mind, she brings her infectious energy with her new single. It seems likely that her authenticity will take her very far, as she’s comfortable and not trying to imitate anyone else.

R&B Corner

Cleo Sol – “Nothing Is Impossible With You”

Truly, it is always a blessed day whenever Cleo Sol drops new music. For instance, her newly released single feels like a spiritual experience as her voice contains healing properties. In fact, this track really speaks to the soul as she poetically reminds listeners of their worth and showers them with words of affirmation.

Seddy Hendrinx – Irreplaceable ft BDii

In my opinion, there is no other artist in the same lane as Seddy, and “Irreplaceable” confirms that. As you can see, he’s reviving the sub-genre, “Rhythm & Gangsta” that was originally coined by Snoop, but in a modern way. Without question, I think he could experience another career peak, if this is the artistic direction he’s trending towards.

PawPaw Rod – “The Get Back”

It is clear that the R&B genre as a whole is making a comeback, and so are some of the existing sub-genres. For example, OK-based artist, PawPaw Rod fearlessly pushes the boundaries on his newest release, “The Get Back.” Following the release of his 2024 EP, he sentimentally released this track to pay homage to his roots and the new era he’s entering.

Back To The Trap

deadmanjonny – “DROP A PIANO” ft B6

Undeniably, one of the most underappreciated in the game has to be ATL’s deadmanjonny. For instance, he recently aligned himself with emerging rapper, B6 and they made instant magic. Similarly, to some of Jonny’s past collaborations, he knows how to sonically bring out the best in his features built around his ominous sound.

Bushy B – ‘Lifestyle’ (Album)

Lastly, the final spot goes to Florida’s own, Bushy B, and his long-awaited, ‘Lifestyle.’ For one thing, he has a feature from Flo Rida on the lead single that perfectly encapsulates the fun vibes from this project.

We hope you enjoyed this week’s edition of New Music Friday!
