New Music Friday: The best new music, featuring Steve Lacy, Chance the Rapper, Cardi B, and more.

The best new music from August 15th!

It’s New Music Friday! There seems to be a recurring theme among today’s releases revolving around making a comeback. So many of these artists have either had a fall from grace personally/musically or taken a well-deserved break. This week’s edition features standout releases from Steve Lacy, Chance the Rapper, Cardi B, and many more.  Read on to find the latest tracks and albums that dropped this week.

New Music Friday Picks

“Don’t Call It A Comeback”

Steve Lacy – “Nice Shoes”

A lot of things have changed since 2022, when “Gemini Rights” put the world on notice to Steve Lacy. His gracious return with “Nice Shoes” takes an unexpected turn sonically, showing a punk side that we’ve never seen before. While it may catch you off guard, the second half reverts to his old ways giving promise for his upcoming album.

Chance the Rapper – ‘STAR LINE’ (Album)

Enough time has passed for everyone to forget the monstrosity of ‘The Big Day’ and new Chance music. All the difference six years can make as he sounds like a recharged version of himself. ‘STAR LINE’ puts into perspective how silly it was for the world to give up on him so soon.

Female Fetales

Cardi B – “Imaginary Playaz”

In preparation for her long-awaited album, “Imaginary Playaz” makes listeners put some respect on Cardi’s pen game. She deserves props for the creative risks, as she could’ve easily aimed for a more commercial sound. Instead, she channeled her inner Lil Kim as she chose to flavorfully stunt on all of her haters.

KenTheMan – “Anyways, Whatever”

It’s about damn time that people are starting to wake up to the talent of Houston’s KenTheMan. Perfectly timed for the upcoming football season, “Anyways Forever,” this track brings an energy that effectively pumps you up. Produced by the same producer who gave us “Taste” and “ZEZE,” this song screams chart topper.

Alemeda – “1-800-F**K-YOU”

TDE’s Alemeda is everything that we need in a modern popstar. Her new single has just the right amount of edge that it’s still digestible to the average listener. With more development, I could see her having a big second half of the year.

Rapper’s Delight

Armani White – “GHOST.”

Best known for his viral hit, “BILLIE EILISH,” Armani White is back with some new music. This time around, he’s teaming up with Samara Cyn, who’s arguably having one of the most impressive runs of 2025. The Pharrell-inspired production lights a fire under both artists to bring their “A” game.

Jyou – “fallin”

In case you’re living under a rock, Nashville seems to be the next city destined for musical greatness in regard to hip-hop. With ease, you should invest all your stock into Jyou, and “fallin” backs up this sentiment. Featuring long-time collaborator, K.O.N., their dazzling chemistry shines bright on this emotionally-charged track.

K Camp – ‘Kiss 6’ (Album)

For our last entry of NMF, we have a 16-track project from seasoned vet, K Camp. Without a doubt, his future is as promising as his past achievements based on his consistent effort. Staying true to the R&B theme, he enlisted help from fresh faces like Chase Shakur & current stars like Ari Lennox.

We hope you enjoyed this week’s edition of New Music Friday!
