It’s New Music Friday! Undoubtedly, these past couple of weeks have felt refreshing with all the new music. We are getting singles and full projects from the artists we least expect, making every week a surprise. This week’s edition features standout releases from Trippie Redd, Coi Leray, Bryson Tiller, and many more. Read on to find the latest tracks and albums that dropped this week.
New Music Friday Picks
Trippie Redd – “Sketchy”
In the peculiar case of Trippie Redd, it’s safe to say his comeback is in effect based on “Sketchy.” In particular, it felt like he brought back the versatility to his sound that had begun to go stale. It’s so easy to forget how he’s been around in the mainstream for about 10+ years. For that reason, it’s great that he’s reached that point where he has no choice but to reinvent his sound to stay relevant.
Coi Leray – “Act Like You Know” ft Shoreline Mafia
As a result of ‘GNX’ and “Not Like Us,” the West Coast style of rap has made its way back to the mainstream. Subsequently, Coi’s new song possesses that West influence and she makes it sound good. With this in mind, it wouldn’t hurt for her to do a quick EP with this sound as she perfectly fits their style.
Bryson Tiller – ‘Solace & The Vices‘ (Album)
Unquestionably, Bryson Tiller has truly gifted us the soundtrack for the fall with his new album. While the production isn’t all the way there, it doesn’t take away from the vulnerability he provides. Because of this, it’s frustrating to see that he’s scraping the surface of his full potential. Unless he pairs up with some new producers, he may never give us another undeniable classic like ‘TrapSoul.’
R&B Corner
Leon Thomas – “Just How You Are”
Compared to every other R&B artist, Leon Thomas is truly on an insanely impressive run. Hoping to keep that fire burning, he recently dropped a new single to tease an upcoming EP and it’s heavily doused in nostalgia. In typical fashion, he effortlessly glides over this track, channeling his inner-Prince.
JayDon – “Caviar”
Similar to professional sports, I wish there were individual awards given to artists for their performance. If this were the case, R&B newcomer, JayDon would absolutely be in contention due to his consistency. His lyrics combined with his breathtaking vocals are to die for.
Elmiene – “Useless (Without You)” ft Muni Long
As a result of his BET Awards performance, the world is starting to come around to Elmiene’s artistry. His newest release brings back the subtlety of begging/yearning that made R&B what it was. The genre took a hard left when toxic R&B became cool, and Elmiene is taking us back to the genre’s roots.
Rapper’s Delight
Niko Brim – “Feel Us”
In the same way that the ’90s were the golden era for NY rappers, Niko Brim is hoping to bring that energy back. For those who crave those raw unfiltered lyrics, look no further than Niko. I love how this track is about being grounded in this chaotic world.
La Reezy – ‘Shakedown’ (EP)
In my opinion, La Reezy is primed for a huge 2026, with all the recent co-signs he’s been receiving. His newly released EP puts things into perspective that his time is now. With a sound reminiscent of the early 2000s, he cracked the code on how to make “feel-good” music.
We hope you enjoyed this week’s edition of New Music Friday!
