NURD’s journey into music began in her childhood church, where singing in the choir laid the foundation for her artistry. Her music lives at the intersection of faith, art, and lived experience. Moreover, this is a place she’s carved out intentionally.

Themes of ‘GODSPEED’

On GODSPEED, NURD explores themes of love, mental health, identity, and faith with unflinching honesty. The 8-track project feels like a conversation — with God, with herself, with her community. “Music was my therapy to release my mind,” she says. “My episodes can sometimes be chaotic, so music is how I communicate to God.” That sense of spiritual communication pulses throughout the album, guiding listeners through moments of pain, joy, and reckoning.

Outside of music, NURD is a passionate advocate for mental health awareness, particularly within the Black community. As a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community, she often shares her own experiences to uplift and empower others who may be navigating similar journeys. Her transparency and openness in both her personal life and her artistry make her not just a singer-songwriter, but a beacon for those in search of connection and representation.
