Born Shahad McCoy, rapper H20 Hadd has been a revelation to Philly’s ever sprouting and generous music scene. Hadd, 19, who has been formulating bangers since first hitting the recording booth in 2017, has the city in the palm of his hands.
His melodic technique and real-life inspired bars have enabled him to turn into one of the most promising prolific figures to hail from the East Side city. Nabbing the attention of tastemakers Lil Uzi Vert & Meek Mill, Hadd went on to sign a record deal with Alamo Record through Sony Music.
His monstrous cut “Back Then” in 2019 further indemnified him in the tregional Philly ranks after the song’s buzz earned him up to 8 million streams across all streaming platforms and counting. Rapper Lil T-Jay hopped on the remix, only escalating and confirming the Philly rappers’ claim to being one of them ones.
This year, his second studio project was released ‘Almost Lost Myself’ – featuring focus track “Don’t Stink” – a boisterous reflective track that captures how far the rapper has emerged, still anticipating brighter days ahead.
We catch up with the rapper as he shares his journey with us :
Where are you from? Where you based right now?
Im from North Philadelphia, still based in North Philadelphia.
How did you get your artist name?
My artist name is H20 Hadd. My real name is Shahad McCoy. How I got my artist name was, my previous name was 20st haddie them changed it to H20 Hadd which stands for Hustle 2wards 0pportunity
What’s one reason you are passionate about music and what inspires you?
one reason I’m passionate about music is because it helps me out a lot when I’m going through things, allowing me the express myself in the best way possible. What inspires me is, my everyday life and the situations that surround me wether positive or negative.
Who are some of your main musical influences?
My main musical influences are Meek Mill and Roddy ricch.
Tell us the name of the project you are currently promoting? What inspired this project?
The project im currently promoting is my new ep titled gifted. What inspired the project are the trials and tribulations I have gone through within from being at the very top to working my way up again.
What is this project about in your own words?
This project is mainly about my trials and tribulations within the music industry and is something for fans both new and old to listen to.
