Los Angeles-based artist Reggie Raxx (@reggiedidthaaat) is ready to claim his space in the music world with the release of his debut album Harbor Nights. The project dropped officially on October 26, 2024, bringing the South Bay area into the spotlight. “The South Bay never gets the recognition we deserve,” Raxx says. “I want to give my side of the city something to relate to.”
Known for producing all of his own beats, Raxx brings a unique sound to the table, blending heavy 808s with orchestral elements. His sound is raw, personal, and crafted with precision. “I like heavy 808’s and orchestras a lot,” he shares. His creative process is deeply tied to his ability to rap over his own beats. Thus, providing him with a sense of comfort and authenticity in his music.
The album Harbor Nights is a reflection of Raxx’s journey through life’s challenges, including mental health struggles and addiction. “To me, it’s about being counted out and overcoming difficult challenges,” he explains. The project serves as a conversation with himself, realizing his self-worth while battling obstacles that many listeners can relate to.
Moreover, influenced by a wide range of artists, including Rick James, Marvin Gaye, Tupac, Metallica, and Dr. Dre, Raxx’s music defies genre and offers something for everyone. His debut album delivers an emotional yet powerful message. “If the world is against you, swing harder, and get the money first.”
Furthermore, Raxx is also working on an exciting collaboration album with Jetset Tsunami, aiming to capture the essence of the South Bay lifestyle. Expect this new project to drop in early 2025.
