The spirit of New York hip-hop was on full display this week as EMG celebrated the release of Reshaping The Culture with an album release experience at Brooklyn Chop House. The packed event brought together artists, tastemakers, and industry insiders to mark the arrival of one of the most ambitious East Coast hip-hop compilations in recent memory.
Hosted by legendary DJ and radio personality DJ Whoo Kid, the night featured red carpet appearances from a mix of rap veterans and rising voices. Attendees included Juelz Santana, Dave East, Jim Jones, Maino, actress Dascha Polanco, Connie Diiamond, Neek Bucks, and EMG artists Shyst Vader and Beau’Joli amongst others. The room buzzed as guests gathered to preview the project and celebrate the return of gritty, lyric-driven East Coast rap.
Released through EMG in partnership with REVOLT’s 440 Artists Distribution, Reshaping The Culture brings together multiple generations of hip-hop voices in a rare collaborative effort. The compilation unites legendary artists with emerging talent. Thus, creating a project that honors the roots of New York rap while introducing the next wave of artists carrying its influence forward.
The album boasts an all-star lineup. Artists such as Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, Fabolous, Styles P, Max B, Waka Flocka Flame, Nems, Millyz, and more alongside EMG’s Shyst Vader and R&B singer Beau’Joli.
Several standout records are already generating attention. For example, “Reshaping The Culture” featuring Raekwon and Shyst Vader is one that has been making rounds. In addition, “One & Only” featuring Max B and Shyst Vader, and “Slow It Down,” a smooth R&B collaboration between Beau’Joli and Fabolous are other standouts. The latter arrives with an official music video released alongside the album.
Produced by DJ Profluent and executive produced by Jeff Burton, Reshaping The Culture positions itself as a statement about hip-hop’s foundation. Furthermore, it cements the idea that culture is also based on community.
Moreover, with the album now available across streaming platforms and buzz from the packed NYC celebration still circulating online, Reshaping The Culture feels like a reminder that East Coast hip-hop’s legacy isn’t just history. It’s still actively being written.
