Author Robert Lawson from Coloma, Michigan has shared his maiden book, Trial and Error: Life of Depression. The book is author Robert’s first publication and strips him bare as he unveils personal adversities he has faced, and narrates how he overcame the same to become who he is today.
“The book is about how I grew up fatherless and how I tried to fill that void with many different things and ended up facing depression, suicidal attempts, bullied, being sexually abused, and so much more and most of all how I overcame all of it and became the man I am today” the author told Remixd Mag.
The book touching on single parenthood in the black community which stands at an alarming 61.3% in the United States, while 74.3% of White minors live in a two-parent household. In his personal memoir on an individual combating the social issues plaguing the community, Robert candidly shares his truth through his lens inexplicably.
Establishing the challenges African-Americans face inter-culturally, he encounters these trials head-on as mental deficiencies such as depression then crop up as a result.
Robert’s reason for writing
Robert’s works essentially an instrument for inspiration, hope and confidence-builders are worth a read especially in desolate times.
“One of the main reasons I am passionate about writing is because I can Inspire and help with my writings” he mentions to Remixd Mag. “What inspires me is not having someone like me growing up telling me how to get through a terrible storm or just inspirational words so I just want to use what I learn along to way help others and give others what I wish I had.”
Currently available on Amazon as a kindle and paperback, the books are very much relatable as people go through dark times such as missing a parent or significant guardian to help straddle the tough times.
Of his plans, Robert a father of three now is already working on his sophomore book. Teaming up with his wife, he is burning the midnight oil on a Children’s Book that he coyly shares some details of.
“I am currently working on my second book which will be a children’s book with my wife Danielle Lawson. That book will be Called God Doesn’t Make No Mistakes: No Kid Left Behind about Autistic children being bullied in school. And how they are still human and they still matter, they are no different from us.”
