New Zealand stand up! Fast rising emoter Romiin has dropped off his latest single “Higher”.
A velvet transcendent cut, the track features glossy keys, a shy baseline, and easing riffs that grant his saccharine vocal prowess to shine on the track.
“The song is called Higher and I wrote it at a time where I experienced probably the worst burnout I’ve had (so far). I was juggling my 9 to 5, family and relationship troubles, and anxieties about the future on top of trying to consistently create” he mentions.
Almost a sunny and summery number custom for a nice top-down drive to a beach with your Raebans on, Romiin excels in his articulation of freeing your mind from worries – something visualized by the song’s artwork where a coastline is seen with an evening tide – almost symbolic of the water washing away your problems.
“I thought I could do it all with no break or outlet to express my bottled emotions and it took its toll on me” he continues.
“As a result, I crashed and burned. They say hindsight is 20/20, so after a few months have passed, I reflected on what happened and what I could’ve done differently. My conclusions from this is what you hear in the song. At the end of the day, we’re all just doing our best. Once that clicked, everything slowly started falling into place and I can now see and handle things differently”
Produced, mixed and mastered by Edy On The Beat, the single further stamps the two creatives’ elaborate chemistry on track together as they bring out each other’s qualities unequivocally.
Additional elements such as strings were added by producer Astro, who was recently involved in pop star Chris Brown’s single “It’s Giving Christmas”.
Pushing P for positive vibes on “Higher”, Romiin is a contemporary R&B act to watch out for. His diversity and ability to play around different styles of R&B – from the intimacy exuded on single
“Back For It” to the freeness and mindfulness expressed on “Higher”, his range on the spectrum of emotions is amazing.
Rightfully deserved a place on your radar as he quips to still having more to offer in his locker, and is adept to experimenting and broadening his soundscape.
“At its core, my sound consists of smooth, velvet tones that naturally echoes the sounds of artists like Mac Ayres, Arin Ray, and RINI” he assures. “These vibes are evident in my catalog so far but I’m not one to put myself in a box – expect some surprises as I roll out my new, more experimental stuff next year onwards.”
He shares some of his muses are the likes of Usher, Brian McKnight, Maxwell, D’Angelo, and Music Soulchild to mention a few.
