Tee Grizzley – Post Traumatic (Oct 3)
Tee Grizzley returned with his most personal and thoughtful album, Post Traumatic on October 13th. This project features 24 songs, making it his longest release yet. Eighteen-year-old creator 310babii from Inglewood, CA, released his much-anticipated album, 310 Degrees. It’s unusual for someone so young to reach the Billboard Top 100, yet “Soak City (Do It)” accomplished that impressive milestone a few months after its debut. BigXthaPlug – TAKE CARE (Oct 11)
TAKE CARE marks the second album from BigXThePlug, featuring 15 tracks without any guest appearances. After gaining attention two years ago with his debut album, this artist from Texas has grown his audience through raw storytelling and gritty vulnerability. This new work continues that narrative, illustrating a journey through tribulations to triumph. It also explores themes such as adjusting to newfound fame, discerning loyalty, and navigating fatherhood. One particularly heartfelt track is “Therapy Session,” which presents the lyrics as a mock therapy dialogue with himself. Upon its release, TAKE CARE debuted at #8 on the Billboard Top 200. The album’s rollout included chart-topping tracks like “TGIF” and “Hollon.” Both of which gained massive popularity on TikTok even before its launch. Key themes throughout this album include resilience, self-value, and happiness. Following Ehhthang Ehhthang, GLORIOUS seems to address doubters who were skeptical about her success after the break-out single “FNF.” It showcases a remarkable range of storytelling and powerful lyricism, complemented by excellent production. Furthermore, GLORIOUS has since achieved the highest first-week sales in 2024 by any female rap artist. Though it’s her freshman project, it already carries the essence of a timeless Rap album.
Rod Wave – Last Lap (October 11)
Last Lap marks the sixth studio offering from Rod Wave. Impressively, Last Lap became his fourth number 1 album in 3 years. Rod Wave has firmly established himself as one of the most impactful artists under 30, boasting a fiercely dedicated following. Throughout all of Rod Wave’s music, including this album, there’s a common thread of yearning for genuine love and a wish to enhance one’s mental well-being. Following the album’s launch, he plans to embark on a national Last Lap Album tour. Moreover, the tour will feature Moneybagg Yo, Dess Dior, Toosii, Lil Poppa, and Eelmatic. Yeat – LYFESTYLE (Oct 22)
Rapper, songwriter, and producer Yeat released his second album this year, LYFESTYLE in the third week of October. This follows 2093, which came out in February 2024. The album features 22 tracks, showcasing collaborations with artists like Kodak Black, Summrs, Don Toliver, and Lil Durk. Yeat is known for blending synthesized beats with unique instrumental sounds. Upon its release, LYFESTYLE secured the #1 spot on the Billboard 200, marking his best release so far. His last album debuted at number 2. Megan Thee Stallion – Megan: Act II (October 24)
The second act of Megan The Stallion’s self-titled album has dropped, featuring 13 fresh tracks. Alongside the release, a visual for, “Bigger In Texas,” was launched and gained positive reactions. Tyler, The Creator – CHROMAKOPIA (October 28)
One of the most anticipated new Hip Hop album releases of October 2024, was undoubtedly Chromakopia. Following the announcement, it was paired with a single release, “NOID.” Fans reacted with understandable excitement given the artist’s prominence. Another interesting aspect of Tyler’s seventh album, is that it arrived on a Monday at 6 a.m. This album stands out as a remarkable work of superior musicianship, featuring 14 songs all crafted, produced, and arranged by Tyler. Many believe it could contend for Album of The Year. Those eager to catch Tyler live can join the waitlist for the upcoming 10-year anniversary of Camp Flognaw next month. EARTHGANG – PERFECT FANTASY (October 29)
PERFECT FANTASY marks the concluding installment of the EARTHGANG vs Algorithm series, showcasing the duo’s first independent effort.
