“Show Some Love” podcast hosted by LA based broadcaster and PR guru Tallie Spencer returns this week featuring Inglewood rap star, Rucci.
Unpacking topics around trust, building it, threats to trust, and lots more, Rucci shares his views on this and how he deals with relationships from a trust standpoint, especially being a rapper today.
The episode investigated how trust is an important ingredient in a healthy relationship. The “That’s Norf” rapper touched on his fears, red flags and even traumas that have either nurtured or soured his trust levels with people. They further broke down how trust can variate in different relationship statuses such as friendships, relationships, business, and more. In hindsight, they scrutinized how today’s culture in general and rap has pushed the trust trope to us as opposed to how they envision it – and if it serves to hurt or help us more in our day to day lives.
“I can’t seem to get in a relationship ’cause I can’t trust nobody” the “B’s Up” lyricist unveiled, “I trust my friends fosure, but in relationships I can’t seem to trust women like that” he said before explaining he sees women in relationships risk it all for rappers a lot. “It’s just the culture we’re in today you know” he stated.
He would further explain that he has certain parameters such as “my girl can’t be at another man’s house past midnight” and so on. Principles such as transparency, communication, and honesty stood out as qualities the rapper looks out for.
“For me being a rapper trust is sharing my location, not having women in my studio sessions, living with me, nowadays I want to be real and true, and it plays out well” he mentioned.
The materialism notion also came up, “Nobody’s pure now. People be so sneaky and lying these days. Everybody wants these Benzes for Christmas because we’re rappers. I can’t get you that because I don’t trust you that like that. I rather give that to my momma.”
In the calm and collected conversation with mics on, host Tallie almost let her guard down when Rucci kept asking follow-up questions in a bid to figure out Tallie’s own ideas on dating and trust especially being in the music and music media space.
From relationships, parenthood, marriage, the interview left it all on the floor extracting deep information on what ideals Rucci would settle for in a woman today.
“She’s got to have a drive, a creative drive. I don’t want someone that sits at home all day and does their lashes. I want someone that wants to be big in the world like me someday, that doesn’t just want to be under me. They have to be pure, have a pure soul – they can sit there and understand and don’t get defensive. I don’t need you to cook or clean, I got people for that. Just be there for Rucci” he opened up.
Rucci didn’t have any reservations on dating rappers. The episode ended on a fun note playing the cheeky “She’s a 10 but …” game.
