Originally from P.G. County, Maryland. Been a resident of California for 6 years now.
What is your artist name? What is your real name? How did you get your artist name?
My artist name is Signed XO. My real name is Troy Townes. My artist name comes from me having a lot of knowledge in what I do. Everything is say, I stand by it 100%, my word is everything. It’s as if it was my signature, hence the name “Signed” . XO is very stylistic. XO represents me being very charismatic. XO is also typically considered of higher value, or superior. So I put Those two words together and came up with Signed XO.
How would you describe your sound to readers who may not be familiar with you?
I have a few different sounds. I have a sound that is very easy on the ear, catchy melodies and catchy hooks, simple and easy to understand and break down my verses. I also have a sound that requires a little more attentiveness. I speak on real life events going on in the world, Many topics that are relatable in friendships and relationships. Many of my metaphors will go over your head and you may need to repeat and pause the song to think about it.
What’s one reason you are passionate about music and what inspires you?
I’m passionate about my music because it’s not much I care about in this world. I value my peace of mind, I value good people around me and i value music. Nothing else matters. My music helps get people through bad days, my music helps a good day become even better. My music has lessons in it. I’m passionate about it because i’m a very quiet person so music is my outlet to talk and get everything off my chest because I hold most of it in. I draw inspiration from many places. My biggest inspiration is myself though. I’m inspired by visions I have in my head and where I want to be. I’m inspired by my goals. Everyday I wake up I know what I’m pursuing, I’m focused, I’m locked in. That is very inspirational to me.
Who are some of your main musical influences?
Drake number 1. His music is very digestible. He’s good at hooks, verses, flows, metaphors and decent with singing. Tory Lanez for the same reason, he’s all around solid at every aspect of music. 2 Pac because of how passionate he was. You could hear every bit of emotion in his music.
What’s next for you? Are you working on any upcoming projects we should be on the lookout for? Include some dates if you have them.
I have a few big features that I’m getting together now. I have lots of music videos in the vault that I’m building a budget for. I’ve more so been establishing connections through social media as well as traveling to different countries. That’s actually where some of my features are coming from.
What message do you hope fans take away from your music and from this project?
I want my fans to find new inspiration. I want my fans to understand that I’m transparent. I want to establish trust with them to the point they can reach out and talk to me personally because they feel the genuinity through the music.I Want them to understand that you don’t have to be misled. Everything I talk about in my music are things and moments that I have done and accomplished and I want my fans to feel inspired to know they can do that too.
