SiR and Leon Thomas bring R&B soul to the Hollywood Bowl with help from Jill Scott, Masego and Ty Dolla $ign

SiR

Last night (July 20, 2025), R&B sensation SiR delivered a stunning headlining performance at the iconic Hollywood Bowl. It was SiR’s headlining debut at the legendary Bowl venue, and he made it a night to remember. The evening was filled with R&B melodies that the crowd sang word-for-word, emotional tributes, and surprise guest appearances that made SiR’s performance one for the books.

Remixd Magazine was in attendance to capture all the action, in case you missed it.

In addition, SiR was joined by singer, songwriter, and producer Leon Thomas who opened the evening and had many surprises of his own. Leon Thomas set the tone with his set that included many of his fan-favorite songs including “Mutt.” He brought the crowd to their feet and surprised fans by bringing out Ty Dolla $ign to share the stage. This raised the energy and anticipation for what was to come.

Moreover, when SiR took the stage, the atmosphere shifted into something sacred. Backed by a live band and a glowing backdrop of warm tones, he moved through his catalog with a calm, confident presence. He delivered hits like “Satisfaction,” “Hair Down,” and the fan-favorite “John Redcorn.” His smooth vocals filled the amphitheater with a cinematic warmth that had the entire crowd vibing under the stars.

Adding to the magic, SiR welcomed a trio of surprise guests: rising R&B star Maeta, multi-instrumentalist Masego, (who dazzled with a live saxophone solo), and the legendary Jill Scott, whose presence lit up the stage.

Towards the end of the set, SiR turned inward with a heartfelt tribute to his mother, who passed away last year. Holding back tears, he shared: “She was proud of three things: my work ethic, my singing ability, and me as a father. But most of all, she was proud of this … what we’re doing right now. We took what she did for a living and made it our own. We’re sharing our gift with the world.”

SiR tributes his mother during performance

His mother, Jackie Gouché-Farris—who also raised SiR’s brother, fellow artist D Smoke—was a renowned vocalist who performed alongside legends like Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder. A dedicated music teacher as well, she played a pivotal role in shaping SiR’s artistic path. She tragically passed away in 2024 due to complications from a car accident.

After the tribute, the crowd applauded in support as he transitioned into singing “John Redcorn.”

Furthermore, the night ended on a high note, a beautiful blend of emotion, artistry, and celebration. For SiR and the thousands in attendance, it was a moment of legacy, love, and living proof of what music can mean.
