As the heat comes full force, the heaters are not slowing down with this week’s new song releases. It’s a good amount of new music to get into from Chance the Rapper, Quavo, Takeoff, Ravyn Lanae, and more. Let’s not waste any time and get right into the best new songs to give a listen this weekend.
“Hotel Lobby” by Takeoff and Quavo (Unc and Phew)
Family ties are in full force as Quavo and Takeoff, now Unc and Phew, link up for their thunderous single “Hotel Lobby”. The song comes after recent news that the Migos may have sent their separate ways. Despite the split, it doesn’t sound like Quavo or Takeoff plan on letting up at all. The horn-heavy nocturnal beat sounds like natural territory for the pair, as the seamlessly float across and trade bars with each other. The slow-burning jam is definitely one that can be a sleeper hit as the summer approaches.
“Wraith” by Chance the Rapper ft. Vic Mensa & Smoke Ono
It feels like Chance the Rapper is catching his lyrical stride in his new song “Wraith”. The song released earlier this week and the Chicago connection instantly gained traction for its successful simplicity. The instrumental is minimalist, but just enough for Chance and fellow SAVEMONEY member Vic Mensa to deliver a lyrical tirade. Every time each of them begin their verses, it feels like it’s hard to for them to stop with their double-time flows.
“Pick up the pace if I pick up the phone, She acting up, I start acting along,
Wake up one morning and that b***h was gone, We not in Kansas like Patrick Mahomes” – Chance the Rapper on “Wraith”
Meat This by Blueface & DDG
When it comes to bangers, Blueface and DDG has become a pair that brings the heat every time. The moment it begins, the energetic jam brings you in and instantly makes you bop to it. Its off-kilter keys sound odd, but they come out perfect once they begin to take command of the show. The new single is another standout track for the pair and another indication of their undeniable chemistry. At this rate, we might just need a Blueface and DDG EP coming soon.
Satellites by Ravyn Lanae
In case you missed it, Ravyn Lanae dropped one of the best projects this month with her new album, Hypnos. Throughout the LP, the songstress’ soft voice finds solace within the dreamy, kaleidoscopic production on here. “Satellites” is a perfect example, as she takes listeners on a surrealistic trip within their eardrums. The guitar strums lightly lead the drums along the journey as Ravyn delivers a mystical jam.
