Hailing from Milledgeville, Georgia, the birthplace of musical talents like PAP Chanel and Fish Scales of Nappy Roots, TMF Precha (@tmfprecha) now calls Jones County, GA, his artistic home. The moniker “TMF Precha” combines his initials and a nickname that reflects his journey – originating from his middle school days when a preacher was often sent his way to steer him back on track, a theme mirrored in his track “Bent Rules.”
TMF Precha’s musical style is a unique blend of rap, pop, and blues, which he says draws occasional comparisons to the iconic André 3000.
“It’s flattering — as those guys definitely influenced me,” he says. “But I kind of feel it’s just the deeper vocal tones and country twang they’re hearing, but I don’t know.”
Describing his music in his own words, it’s a fusion of rap’s rhythm, pop’s catchiness, and the heartfelt narratives of blues.
For TMF Precha, music transcends passion; it has been a lifeline during his wilder years. His compositions convey emotions that words alone couldn’t capture. Influenced by the likes of Bone Thugs, Field Mob, The Fat Boys, Outkast, Lupe Fiasco, and JellyRoll, his musical journey is an amalgamation of diverse inspirations.
His recent creation, “Build,” unveils a transformative phase of his life. Born from a turbulent relationship and his subsequent journey as a single father, the track embodies the evolution of love and the understanding that every twist and turn has led him to the present. Inspired by a remarkable woman – an author, teacher, and stay-at-home mom – the song marks a new direction in his musical exploration.
A remix to “Build,” featuring YellowBunny is also in the works, adding another layer to the narrative. But the story doesn’t end here; an eagerly anticipated debut album, featuring collaborations with Chino XL, X-Raided, Cameron Airborne, Odd Squad Family, and more, is set to drop towards the end of 2023.
