Rising Argentine artist and hip-hop virtuoso, Trueno, and multi-platinum, award-winning Colombian superstar, J Balvin, unite for the momentous release of “UN PASO,” an unreleased track off of Trueno’s sophomore album, BIEN O MAL. The song and its official video are now available on all digital platforms.
With this newest hit, Trueno showcases his chameleon-like abilities to adapt and prosper in any genre of music, kicking off “UN PASO” with a fiery delivery of vigorous wordplay as he chants, “Si la gente me pide reggaeton, se lo doy.” Clearing a path for the direction and identity of the song, Trueno keeps his promise as he dives into a more nostalgic and reggaeton heavy track – meshing a familiar reggaeton count by J Balvin with the Argentine prodigy’s hip-hop flare. A pronounced drum element quickly picks up momentum as Trueno’s signature lyrical dexterity and flow set the pace for what is to come when Balvin’s rhythmic vocalization enters the song.
“The song UN PASO is the first blocked song to be released and come to light. In UN PASO, we present a little bit of the concept of the album, it’s Latin American reggaeton. In UN PASO, we present a little bit of the concept of the album, it’s Latin American reggaeton. I’m super grateful that it’s from the hand of a person like Balvin, who has always been an idol for Latin America, and for him to come down to the neighborhood to be interested in new talents speaks volumes about him,” comments Trueno. “That he continues to make music for the community seems very important to me and I feel that the purpose of this song is the Latin American union, beyond Colombia and Argentina, to put Latin America on the map with all its purity, and with its darkness and purity to the community – to make it mainstream so that the whole world knows about it. Let the whole world see how reggaeton is being made in Argentina and that we are more than standing tall. It’s still BIEN O MAL, from protest to celebration. This time it’s our turn to play a little bit in the hood, luckily with a person who will take us to stardom and who will make my neighborhood shine like Balvin. Super happy for this Latin American union, we continue to represent the continent. Argentina and Colombia in the house!”
Staying true to the overall theme of BIEN O MAL, the video for “UN PASO” continues the hip-hop exponent’s storytelling through artistic expression, coming together with sounds and visual spaces that work together to break past creative barriers. Directed by El Dorado and Lucas Vignale and produced by Sur Capital Récords, the video is the perfect visual complement for the song as it lines up with the spirit and attitude laid by Trueno and Balvin. Masked with more sinister hues and a hauntingly captivating atmosphere, both artists make their presence known as they deliver their forceful verses surrounded by an assortment of faceless dancers arrayed in darker colors.
“UN PASO” arrives as one of the highly anticipated bonus tracks off of the hip hop phenomenon’s sophomore album, BIEN O MAL, which was released in May. The album has already surpassed 600 million streams on a global level. With BIEN O MAL, Trueno shows his own critical and inspiring vision of today’s world and proposes an album that is organized in a conceptual way, with its themes divided into two axes, precisely those that represent the duality between good and evil. A journey under the slogan “from protest to celebration”, with an interlude that connects both parts from the voice of Trueno himself exposing how he sees the social and cultural reality of Latin America today.
Last month, Trueno unveiled a brand new video for “ARGENTINA” alongside Barcelona-based, Argentine-born star, Nathy Peluso, which has garnered over 4 million views on YouTube. The debut of “ARGENTINA” followed shortly after the Argentine artists’ nomination for the 2022 Premios Juventud Awards. Trueno was recognized under “Mejor Canción en Pareja (Best Couples’ Song)” for his successful collaboration on “Dangerous” with Nicki Nicole and Bizarrap.
Earlier this year, Trueno kicked off his international world tour for the year with two tremendous sets with record attendance at the Lollapalooza Chile and Vive Latino Mexico festivals. At the end of April, he had an explosive set of his own at the Quilmes Rock Festival, closing the first day on the main stage firing improvised rhymes alongside the legendary English band, Gorillaz. Trueno continued his tour this Summer taking his show to the Spanish festivals of Maleducats, Calafell Beach Festival, Mallorca Live Festival, Holika, Maleducaos, Puro Latino Fest, Cruilla, and Boombastic, among others. Trueno also counts on a completely sold out show for his stop in London on July 19 at Omeara. To wrap up the “BIEN O MAL World Tour,” he will perform at the historic Stadium Luna Park in his hometown, Buenos Aires, on December 2 with a completely sold out show – leading to an additional date at Luna Park on December 29.
