Trendsetter and music icon Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid has postponed the album release date to his fifth and critical studio album, More Love Less Ego.
The Lagos born star took to his social media following numerous teasers to announce the album date, a follow-up to his most successful opus 2020’s Made In Lagos on 28th October, as he released the single accompanied by a visualizer “Money & Love”.
Prior, the “Essence” crooner had released the Amapiano-inspired “Bad To Me” that has been performing well. The single has already surpassed over 1 million streams on Apple Music.
However, despite issuing a promising November 4th date for the star-studded album that features heavyweights such as Travis Scott, Ayra Starr, Naira Marley, Skillibeng, Lauryn Hill, Shensea and Houston’s Don Toliver, the project has been delayed due to unknown reasons.
Fans speculated that Wiz had a change of heart following the untimely passing of friend and peer, Davido’s three year-old son, David Ifeanyi Adedeji Adekele’s passing as a sign of respect and solidarity. Many Nigerian artists’ have also paid their respects through social media and Wiz was no different.
Wizkid is a father of three, and this made perfect sense to postpone his music in a gesture of abutment to his fellow friend, Davido, whose son passed on in a pool drowning, a case that is currently under investigation by police.
Remixd Mag can now confirm Wizkid will release his project this Friday despite little to no communication from his team leading up to his announcement. His Apple Music account indicates that the project is speculated to drop on November 13 while his Stan page Wizkidnews is promoting a November 11 release date.
Historically, he will become the second Nigerian artist to fill up the Madison Square Garden on November 16 as he hosts a blockbuster concert following his collaborator Burna Boy selling out the famed arena in June this year. Meanwhile, his Apple Live concert exclusive to Apple Music will air on Monday 13 November.
