Award-winning and chart-topping R&B talent Xenia Manasseh has shared her latest single “Temporary Love”.
Produced by frequent collaborator MOMBRU, Xenia strays away from previous releases that are more centered on heartbreak and the downfall of relationships.
“The song is me openly admitting to being afraid of love, being in love again and the choice that I made as a result” Xenia Manasseh reveals.
In this moment of vulnerability however, the “Cherry” singer also admits to finally yearning to be done with a love that’s fleeting or temporary.
“I want it to be us, done with temporary love” she emotes on the bluesy laid-back track.
The record is a poignant cut that straddles well with somber contemplative keys as the lead melody and chords. Xenia’s assuring, weary-like and nimble vocal performance embraces the deft instrumental as she spells out her troubles with romance. Visually, Xenia is dressed in a black leather sartorial jacket and pants adoring a classic look with matte blue eye-shadow further showcasing her idyllic sense in her imagery. Xenia cuts a forlorn figure on the record, but the song is a glaring example why Xenia is one of the most sought-for R&B acts and a beacon of light in the expansive R&B sphere. Her ability to tell relatable stories from a space of honesty and transparency makes her music that much soulful and moving.
“I talk about a love that is undeniable and my desire to actually pursue something that will last” she opens up about the record.
Xenia also shared a visual from her joint EP Maybe with producer Ukweli – “Love Me Or Leave Me”. Click the link to watch.
Outside of the track and recent projects, Xenia has been named among Spotify’s RADAR Programme for 2023, opened for Kenyan pop band Sauti Sol on their Los Angeles North American Tour at The Belasco, and been working on completing her debut album primed for a fourth quarter release this year.
