YG enlists fellow 4Hunnid artists Day Sulan and new signee D3szn in his first song and visual of 2021.
The visual is YG’s first single of the New Year, featuring his 4Hunnid artists, Day Sulan, and new signee D3szn debuted New Year’s Eve during YG’s live performance on Youtube. The song came after several collaborations with his 4Hundid artists, Day Sulan and D3szn have both gained traction at the end of 2020, leading to them collaborating with other high-profile artists like Lil Wayne, Rubi Rose, and Olympian and fellow recording artist Will Claye.
The trio appears with high energy as they rap with a catchy west coast flow, juxtaposed to the infamous Chicago drill beat, making for an impressive song, progressing to a different sound than we are used to from LA native YG, West Coast drill. The song features an intoxicating drill beat, with a special appearance from fellow racer and car enthusiast SideShow Tone, seen doing donuts around YG. The video “Hit Em Up’ was led by long-time collaborator Austin William Simkins, who has directed several of YG’s last music videos. Austin Simkins is responsible for directing most of YG’s music videos from his latest project, My Life 4Hunnid. This track and visual, however, shows both YG’s and Simkins versatility as artists.
The visual, centered around a boxing match and fast cars, features fast transitions and a distorted visual, accompanied by gritty-high energy, reflecting the drill beat. The track, “Hit Em Up,” is YG’s first single of 2021 and is sure not to be his last. The rapper, actor, and fashion icon has been releasing several hit singles and features following his latest album, My Life 4Hunnid.
Including stand out tracks, Mamacita,” with Tyga and Santana, “Money Mouf” with Tyga and Saweetie, and “Equinox” with Day Sulan. Watch YG’s, Day Sulan, and D3szn’s new visual below!
