Rico Nasty’s new visual for “OHFR?” is chaotic in all the right ways!

Rico Nasty just dropped a black-and-white visual for “OHFR?” produced by 100 Gecs artist Dylan Brady. Slightly over the two-minute-long song, “OHFR?” visually reflects Rico’s now-signature and popularized energy and afro-punk style. Rico Nasty’s Grunge-Esque black-and-white outfit choices and all white backdrop make the video burst with excitement as it is impossible to take your eyes off her. The alternative visual shows Rico being her true-self: high-energy and having fun. In the video, she smashes vases with a mallet, dances with a slick-black guitar, and secures her spot as one of the best emcees and visual artists out right now.

“OHFR?” comes after the release of three prior singles, including the most recent song featuring both Gucci Mane and Don Toliver, entitled “Don’t Like Me.” Nightmare Vacation is Rico Nasty’s forthcoming album that’s set to drop on December 4th and will include sixteen tracks. And if its is anything like the leading singles that have already been released, it should be another certified classic Rico Nasty project. The upcoming album follows last year’s well-received collaborative project, Anger Management, with high-profile producer Kenny Beats, and is expected to do phenomenally.

DaBaby’s “grandfather” steals the show in his new visual for “BLIND” featuring Young Thug

DaBaby shares a humorous and entertaining music video for “BLIND,” his fifth single from his third studio album, BLAME IT ON BABY. Billboard Music reported that the album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 album charts, when it was first released in April 2020. “BLIND” was released on the deluxe edition of the album, which came out in August 2020.

The music video opens by paying homage to DaBaby’s late brother, Glen Johnson, who passed away earlier this month from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The message reads “Long Live G,” with a dove emoji.

At the beginning of the video, DaBaby invites his ‘grandfather’ to his and Young Thug’s video shoot for his 90th birthday surprise. The man in the video isn’t his real grandfather, but is dressed up with a long beard and a cane to match. During the events of the video, DaBaby’s grandpa becomes a menace to the video shoot: seducing and grinding on women, flipping off the camera, and even at one point halted filming, to which DaBaby claims he is “f–king the video up.” This three minute and forty-second music video, directed by Motion Family, shows a traditional rap music video: money, dancers, and a fancy car, accompanied with the coolness and swagger of DaBaby and Young Thug juxtaposed to the humorous antics of DaBaby’s grandfather, which steal the video.

Cvrtdaguy shares introductory debut EP ‘Dear World’

Dear World is out now on all platforms.

Meet upcoming artist Cvrtdaguy, from Brooklyn NY. He just released his debut EP called Dear World, and it serves as a great introduction to his sound and skills as a rapper. On the 6-track project, Cvrt has a conversation with the listener about his life, reminiscing on high school days, and allowing fans into who he is as an artist.

Although he’s just getting started, the rising talent is coming in heavy with the bars. Cvrtdaguy is definitely someone you should keep an eye out for. His talent and efforts were on full display in the EP, but it’s clear that he has much more to offer and has a lot of potential. With a gritty sound and a delivery that can be described as assertive, Cvrtdaguy sets himself apart from the rest.

Keep reading to learn more about him and what he has planned for the future.

What city are you from/ Where are you based now?

Originally I’m from Brooklyn, NY but moved from there back in 2014 to Elizabeth City, NC. But I moved around since because of my career choice.

What is your artist name? What is your real name? How did you get your artist name?

My artist name is Cvrtdaguy and my real name is Curtis Mcdonald. I got my artist name by taking one of my many nicknames (Curt) and people would always tell me I’m “the guy.” They would come to me for whatever they need and I would be like “if you need it and I got it, I’ll give it.”

Has your upbringing played a role in shaping who you are and defining your sound today? If so, how?

My upbringing most definitely had a hand in my sound. I grew up in like an old soul environment where my family would play music anywhere from the 1950s and up. I try to leave a little bit of soul whenever I write a verse — just to have a reminder of who I am and what led me to this point in my music. Not trying to sound like a broken record but music has been a part of my family for a long time. I grew up around my grandfather on my pops side in NYC messing with DJ equipment on Friday nights at my grandma house. And I got family that sing in church, uncles that rap, and even my own father makes beats. So with all that around me of course, I wanted to do it myself. So I learned to engineer, produce and create my own stuff including cover art.

What ultimately inspired you to dedicate yourself to a music career?

What mainly gave me the inspiration for making music came from seeing how some of my favorite rappers would take words and just straight up create a picture you can vividly see. The cadences or rhyme scheme they’d use to just put you in a trance kept me in awe and still does today.

Tell us about the project that you are promoting. What is it about? Is it a single or EP? Also, what is the name of the last project you released?

The project Dear World is literally my first project I put out and its basically me introducing myself to the world in a 6- song EP. But instead of it being in a traditional format, I wanted to have it seem like a conversation with the listener the entire time.

What has the response been like to that project?

The response to the project so far has been dope, like people that actually f–k with me and give honest feedback and even told me the wait was worth it. This project was suppose to release months ago but me being so indecisive, I kept changing the track list up and it was making me go nuts trying to figure out what I wanted to release for sure.

What’s next for you? Are you working on any upcoming projects we should be on the lookout for? Include some dates if you have them.

So I have an upcoming project releasing hopefully April 2021 that’s going to be a little bit different from what’s been shown in Dear World. My goal is to have at least 8-9 tracks for the next project. Also I’m in the process of getting my own clothing line established called “Fly High Apparel” so just be on the lookout for that too.

What message do you hope fans take away from your music?

The only message I have to my fans is just be patient with me — I take a long time to “perfect” my craft. I engineer, produce, and mix and master my own music. Quality takes time.

The Houston, Texas-born and raised artist is of Nigerian descent and has plans of building an empire with his music career.

When asked about what ultimately inspired him to dedicate himself to a music career, Abanga responded, “the art of words itself.”

“I love English as a subject, and I love music,” he said. “And seeing how many words that I can intertwine into a tune with a flowing nature just excites me. I love walking all across beats.”

Prior to his debut EP, the independent artist put out a few singles. “Etuk’s Interlude” and “Can’t Be A Menace” were two of his first projects that he released into the world. Now, he’s putting out a full-length project that he’s proud of and wants the world to hear.
Keep reading to learn more about him!

What’s one reason you are passionate about music and what inspires you?

You can really speak to people through music before you can get them to engage in a thorough conversation, it’s crazy. The newer generation also really needs the right message in their heads. Also why becoming a teacher was always my backup plan. I’m genuinely expired by Black empowerment amongst generations. It’s extremely rare to see older folks put young folks on, or vice versa. But I’m always joyful when I do see it.

Do you have any hobbies outside of music? What do you do to stay creative?

I enjoyed sewing for the longest, but since I’ve taken my music more seriously and working later hours at work, I have not had the time. I also love to travel, and see new territory. It always regenerates me seeing someone else’s livelihood.

Who are some of your main musical influences?

Nicki Minaj, Foxy Brown, Queen Latifah, Mc Lyte, Nas, Tupac, Lil Wayne, Kendrick Lamar, Drake, UGK, Houston’s entire music scene old & new school. Andre 3K, Busta Rhymes.

What are some of your music career goals for the future?

I am focused on solidifying a pure fanbase. When you remain loyal and consistently prove your stature, you will only grow that fanbase.

Tell us about the project that you are promoting. What is it about? Is it a single or EP?Also, what is the name of the last project you released?

I just released my first body of work titled Big Bang Theory on October 31 promoting and strategizing on what deserves videos, prices, etc.

What has the response been like to that project?

Genuine love. Receiving love from strangers whom have no biased responses say that they like your music, is a very solidifying feeling.

What are some projects you’ve done in the past that you are most proud of and why?

My first two singles “Etuk’s Interlude” and “Can’t Be A Menace” will always be special to me. I also own all rights to Can’t Be A Menace so I am excited about starting my musical catalog.

What’s next for you? Are you working on any upcoming projects we should be on the lookout for? Include some dates if you have them.

I will be releasing two more singles on New Years day, “Black Man Blues,” and “Day Ones.” I’d like to put as much into my first era as I can. I have already started working on music for the new year.

What message do you hope fans take away from your music?

I want them to instill that confidence in themselves. I also get political every blue moon so I hope they take those instances exactly how I’ve interpreted them.

Tez Young talks debut EP ‘Chapter 1: Forever Broken’

Tez Young speaks with RemixdMag to open up about his musical journey so far.

Philadelphia area Hip-Hop artist Tez Young has been working on his sound and his hard work is paying off. Young started doing music in January 2019. The tragic loss of his sister due to diabetes opened a space where Tez needed a new way to vent. Music initially ended up finding him when a friend invited him to a studio session.

“I decided to pursue music because I had lost my sister in November 2018 due to diabetes leaving behind two of my nephews,” Young told RemixdMag. “Life was hard and sometimes I still find myself getting upset about her passing and reminiscing about the old times. I needed a way to vent and going to someone to talk wasn’t something I felt would benefit me. I just didn’t understand how someone would be able to understand my pain without being in my shoes. February 2019, I started doing music and things started rolling from there…”

Tez Young has a unique sound that is distinctive and sets himself apart from the rest. He sings and raps, and is not restricted by specific genres in particular.

“I see no limits in my talent of writing,” he continued.

When asked about the inspiration behind why he makes music, Young said that the “inspiration came from seeing the impact” that his music made on people.

“Seeing people post videos singing my songs,” Young added. “Seeing my stats and people from across the world listening and sending me my songs. Having people come up to me telling me I have a gift and don’t stop. Most importantly my inspiration came from being able to express my feelings in ways that impact you more than just me telling you. If I can make you feel me, then I’m satisfied because you really heard me.” His last project of collective songs that he released was called Forever Broken, which was an EP that detailed failed relationships that he had experienced.

“The message I hope fans take away from my music is that it’s okay to experience heartbreak in any form,” Tez Young concluded. “Whether it’s losing someone or heartbreak in some form of relationship. And It’s okay to let it out. It doesn’t make you weak. Letting things out is good for your mental and healing for your heart.”
