Meet Nick Bison: A colorful new artist out of LA

The single,”Always,” appears on LNDN DRGS new album ‘Burnout 4,’ which premiered earlier this week.

The hip-hop duo, LNDN DRGS, who consists of rapper Jay Worthy and producer Sean House, dropped their new project, Burnout 4, earlier this week on December 11th. The visual for “Always,” featuring rapper Larry June, who is a long time collaborator with the duo, came out Friday of last week, sharing a nostalgic track reminiscent of an old school new york hip-hop sound. The visuals match and follow their previous music video, “Burnout4,” which debuted a few days earlier, on December 8th, and features a guest appearance from a fellow rapper, Jim Jones of The Diplomats.

The visuals for both “Burnout 4” and “Always” were both filmed in Brooklyn, New York, and encapsulates the laid-back New York block aesthetic, popularized in New York by street culture, where people hang out on stoops and kick-it, vibing to music, smoking, and drinking. The video for “Always,” featuring Larry June, follow this format and was very important to Jay Worthy, according to Complex Magazine, said:

“This video is special to me cause it was shot in the south Bronx the Mecca of this rap shit where it all started brought me back to the days of wild style and style wars. Being from the west coast, this shit seemed so foreign like one day we gonna go to New York but now we here and fully tapped in street legend shit.”

The hip-hop duo, LNDN DRGS, have collaborated on a total of six full-length projects, including two collaborative albums, one with Odd Futures’ Left Brain titled Brain On Drgs, the other project, Umbrella Symphony, with Curren$y. Their new record, Burnout 4, follows their last project, Affiliated, released in 2019, with features including, Problem, Casey Veggies, Iamsu, and more.

Jay Montana releases latest mixtape ‘B4DACHECK’

The young emcee is the latest artist out of Mobile, Alabama gaining popularity within the rap game and it is well deserved. While he cites Atlanta heavy-hitters Future and Lil Baby as influences, Jay Montana is definitely creating his own sound dropping the most clever bars in his deeply southern accent that makes his delivery that much smoother. He has only been pursuing his musical career for a little over a year now but has made big strides knowing he could really be successful after the overwhelming positive response from listeners to his single “Don’t Panic.”

His newest project “B4DACHECK” is the most time and energy he has put into any body of work he has released so far and the perfectly placed 10 tracks reflect that. He constantly switches up his flow so listeners never get bored and reflects on his increase in visibility and how that has consequentially affected the relationships he shares with others. His ability to be vulnerable about these ordeals on songs like the guitar infused “Lost Souls” or outro track “The Pain Show” allows him to connect with listeners on the one thing that is inevitable in anyone’s lifetime: change. If this mixtape proves nothing else it is that Montana is surely an artist to watch.

Detroit artist Courtney Bell recruits Icewear Vezzo for latest single “Deebo”

Detroit lyricists Icewear Vezzo and Courtney Bell exchange bars about earning their stripes being from some of the toughest neighborhoods in their city. Both Courtney Bell and Icewear Vezzo’s ability to play off the rhymes and energy of each other over a piano ridden beat by Kyle “IRock” Adams keeps the listener engaged and amused. The song is a nod to the classic movie Friday and samples audio from the infamous scene where Greg (Ice Cube) runs to his room to pick up a gun, only to be stopped and enlightened by his father, played by the late John Singleton.

The visual for the song only makes it that much more enthralling with both Courtney and Icewear being captured under neon strobe lights surrounded by their crew, showing off their jewelry and giving off excitable energy that matches each and every word they rap throughout. With this only being Courtney’s first official single this year it seems like fans can expect more heavy hitting bars and high energy songs from him in the upcoming months.

Instagram page TorontoRoom is creating a platform for buzzing Canadian Artists

JS created The Toronto Room, one of Canada’s most popular and fast-growing pop culture social media pages and took the time to speak with Remixd Magazine on what that process has been like, what plans he has for it in the future and the Canada music scene.

“I felt that there was not anyone helping out artists in Canada,” he shared as his reasoning for why he created Toronto Room. “There were big pages like 6ixbuzz but aside from that there were not any that would show love to upcoming artists/brands in Canada.”

Since its inception in April of 2020, Toronto Room has amassed over 200-thousand followers and interacted with many popular Canadian artists and Tiktokers such as Chromazz, Killy, Bundog, Lessica, Zertheus and more. This is a big feat in just the matter of one year so how were they able to do this? “With a lot of long hours and a great marketing strategy, we were able to organically grow ourselves into a big platform,” JS said. They also branched out and expanded onto other platforms such as Youtube, Spotify and Twitter so that their audience could find them anywhere.

While Toronto Room covers content such as the latest news, controversy, funny skits and memes, the main intent for the page is to give up-and-coming Toronto and other Canadian artists exposure to a larger audience and is what makes them different from a lot of their competitors.

They are able to give these artists a platform by offering posts on their page that will give them exposure, posting them on their Youtube Premier page “TorontoRoom Premiers” and through allowing them spots on their Spotify playlist with over 6 thousand likes, of the same name.

With the great strides they’ve made in just a little over a year, it’s natural to wonder what else is next for Toronto Room? “1 million followers would be a huge accomplishment,” JS said. “I also would want to get verified and wish Instagram could see the hard work we are doing on their platform. Lastly I would like Drake to follow us back.”

In the meantime be sure to follow @TorontoRoom on all platforms!

KINGMOSTWANTED releases new single, “Cali Lovin,” plus new video coming soon

Following the success of his November 2021 album, Time For The Throne, viral rap star KINGMOSTWANTED is back again with a new single, “Cali Lovin.”

“I’ve been tryna get this on all platforms for my fans, and the wait is over,” KINGMOSTWANTED shared with Remixd Magazine. “They’re gonna love it,” he added.

“Cali Lovin” is KINGMOSTWANTED’S second west coast anthem, the first being piano-led hit, “In My City,” which generated over 18 million streams and put the west-coast rapper on the map after going viral on Tik Tok.

Posting to Instagram Stories early Friday morning, the viral rapper announced “Cali Lovin’s” return to streaming platforms, following several clearance delays that prevented the song from being played.

The track itself highlights KINGMOSTWANTED’S signature west coast flow, but this time around, he takes listeners in a different direction with a newly produced sound. On “Cali Lovin,” the rapper switched from his usual minimally-produced and percussion-heavy beats, to a more melodic and sample-based production style.

As a nod to his west coast roots “Cali Lovin” flips Ice Cube’s iconic “Check Yo Self,” while the rapper playfully spits:

“Weed puffin, Cali lovin’, the music up high, and I’m out here thuggin.”

The track’s sampled sound highlights the main theme of KINGMOSTWANTED’S recently released project, F#ck Yo Samples, which features a flipped collection of several classic hip hop beats. For KINGMOSTWANTED, this display of versatility is not for the sake of novelty, rather it’s simply a part of his rap identity.

“My sound is not just one sound. I can come on almost any beat, which is what makes me different from everyone else.”

“Cali Lovin’s” upbeat vibe arrives just in time for the summer, with an accompanying video set to debut on March 18. In the meantime, the song is now available for streaming on all platforms.

Check out the fun single below and stay tuned for updates from KINGMOSTWANTED.

The Compton, California rapper has returned with his latest single “Don’t Take It Personal.” The title speaks for itself as Boogie reminds listeners how he is truly a one of a kind talent. Unleashing straight bars over a smooth beat that caters to the hypnotic sound of South Central LA, “Don’t Take It Personal” is a motivating track showcasing how Boogie started from the bottom and worked his way up to success.

I’m learning that people who don’t appreciate you for having your own mind are suckas, and I don’t need to be near them.”

What’s next for BoogieFrmDa8? The music artist hinted at some new projects in the works to be released later this year. “You can expect more music videos and my movie In Da Hood that drops this summer. I also have a collaboration with a female artist and other sounds on the way.” he expressed.

Mickey Shiloh’s ‘Girl Talk’ compilation project showcases versatile talents

Girl Talk is a compilation album hosted by groups ‘HRDRV’ (pronounced “hard-drive”) and ‘ILL’ (Isadore Noir, Luna Byrd, and ladidai) and featuring talented artists such as Mickey Shiloh, Mona Soul, Gingerr Rust, Maya Batra, and Isadore Noir. The project includes 10-tracks and was created as a result of the ‘Girl Talk’ event — a program for women run by all women, made to help them with writing, networking, in addition to learn what it is like to navigate being a woman in the music business from other notable women in the industry.

The event occurred in honor of women’s history month, and the attendees participated in a week full of panelists, networking with songwriters and producers, and received one free mix/master and also created a sound kit. Lastly, as one of the camp’s tasks, the campers collaborated on a compilation project which culminated as the ‘Girl Talk’ album.

Mickey Shiloh opens the album with a solo hip-hop inspired track, “BAG$,” a fun and melodic, and poppy anthem. The second and third tracks, “Stallions,” and “Phil Of The Future ” feature participants Gingerr Rust and Mona Soul, Gingerr Rust who blend R&B/Soul, Jazz, and Bedroom Pop. From the beat to the rhythm and lyrical content of both tracks, Gingerr Rust and Mona Soul deliver.

Mona Soul then continues the vibes on the fourth track with an impressive vocal arrangement on “Tsunami.” The fifth track, “Glazed,” is by Maya Batra, a Los Angeles singer-songwriter and producer. She has an impeccable musical career as a graduate of the 1500 Sound Academy, and she blesses every track she’s on with an angelic sound.

Track six “Scorpion Queen” is a standout, as Isadore Noir delivers some bars and catchy flows. It’s a fiery track that was produced by Ge Oh, and mixed by fellow Girl Talk artist Maya Batra. The track is a certified anthem, as it showcases Isadore’s voice with a rich and full beat to “back it up.”

Maya Batra and Isadore collaborate together on the album’s seventh track, “Rollercoaster,” a rich and somber song detailing the ups and downs of loss and coping with losing loved ones to addiction.

“Toxic” is the name of track number eight and Gingerr Rust makes her solo debut on the project, giving audiences all the vibes.
The following track, “Been Away,” by Isadore, is also a standout track, as it delivers seductive and positively spectacular melodies. The final track, “Wake Up Call,” again by Maya Batra, is a short, near and dear song that is more ethereal and emotional, if anything else, setting a mood.
