New Music Friday Picks

Burna Boy – “TaTaTa” ft Travis Scott

In preparation for his eighth studio album, Burna Boy has unveiled a new track titled “TaTaTa” featuring Travis Scott. It may not be the collaboration that we expected, it’s certainly the one we needed. For it to be just May, he already experimented with so many different genres to showcase his crazy range. “TaTaTa” is a great attempt by Burna to reach the Latin-American market. It checks all the boxes as an energetic dance song, with its easily digestible lyrics and Brazilian-funk inspired production.

Estelle – ‘Stay Alta’ (Album)

Who would’ve thought in the year of 2025 that Estelle would still be dropping heat? Building off her past releases, she continues to be at the forefront of a disco renaissance. More importantly, it’s so impressive how mature her songwriting style has evolved to reflect her tenured success. It’s something special that happens to artists at 40 that brings out their pure liberation.

Youngboy Never Again – “Finest

It’s very commendable how smoothly Youngboy was able to hit the ground after being released. His newest release “Finest” truly makes me feel he’s back in his prime. Whenever he gets deep in his feelings, he starts to musically become untouchable. If this the energy that he’s bringing to his upcoming tour/album, he’s about to go on a crazy run.

PlaqueBoyMax – “ATLANTA”

For the past few years, live-streamer PlaqueBoyMax has built a following by streaming how artists actually make music. His debut project, “ATLANTA” showcases a mixture of old & new faces from the Peach State. It’s an enjoyable listen thanks to the brilliant production and fun energy each artist brings. With is being such a unique concept, it’s exciting to see what city he will stamp his flag in next.

YFN Lucci – “Jan. 31st (My Truth)”

Despite having multiple hits, ATL’s Lucci has not been able to build a cult following like most artists. The release of this single makes it feels like he’s back and like he never left. The lyrics regarding the trials and tribulations that he recently experienced are almost guaranteed to invoke sympathy. His recent jail stint has humbled him so much that it’s poured into his music and made him a better songwriter.

Kai Ca$h – “Knicks in 6“

For most people, the best part about the recent Joey Badass vs West Coast rap beef is the discovery of Kai Ca$h. “Knicks in 6” allowed Kai to find a way to capitalize on the moment and let the world know that NY still has real lyricists. Kai rapped as if his life depended on it to remind people where the mecca of rap is. This is an insane follow-up to his breakout project, “Cash Rules,” positioning him for an epic second half of 2025.

Kanii – “skin”

D.C. alt-pop artist, Kanii has entered a new era of his artistic journey with “skin.” Already known for carving a lane in the world of R&B, he has ambitiously crossed over to the pop side with this release. At only 19-years old, he’s proving that there seems to be no limit to creativity as long as he has space to be vulnerable.

itsHoly – “NADA” ft NOT3S

Ohio rapper, itsHoly combined his talent with London lyricist, NOT3S on “Nada.” With production from Zoe Beats, this unlikely duo show they have an undeniable artistic chemistry despite having different backgrounds. This song is a testament that music is a universal language that can brings all types of people together.

We hope you enjoyed this week’s edition of New Music Friday.
