Queens’, NY newcomer, D. Moore does not disappoint! Dubbing his sound “romance rap,” Moore’s latest offering, “Compromise,” blends the old school sound with a new wave of R&B soul. Coming in hot to warm up the winter, “Compromise,” is captivating and revolutionary, giving listeners a modern twist on the classic R&B sound. In doing so, his modern twist on music makes for a great nostalgic nod to the Golden Era sound.
“It’s romance rap. It’s rap that’s romantic. And for me, it’s really talking to the ladies, you know, I wanted to create something that was based in love. And, you know, that’s something that I feel like is missing right now. There’s a lot of rough kind of sounding music, which has its own space, but somebody’s got to lead and say, you know, let’s talk about love a little bit. I wanted to create something that felt universal, where everyone could feel the love in it, and hopefully that could resonate with listeners.”
D. Moore comes with the perfect “Compromise” on new single
On his latest offering, D. Moore’s sound is sleek and seamless, perfectly pairing with the playful yet seductive production. Immediately, the record reveals a catchy melody that causes listeners to stay glued to the music. Moore’s vocals beautifully blend a touch of the old school with something fresh and new. Laced with powerful and romantic lyrics, he highlights the importance of having a relationship that is built on mutual trust and compromise.
Taking the soaring single to new heights, he gets a guest feature by 90’s R&B icon Horace Brown. Perfectly pairing with the structure of the song, Horace’s vocals add that extra touch that makes “Compromise” something uniquely special. Brown’s singing is reminiscent to an era of music where R&B soul was at its peak. His collaboration with D Moore seems to be based on a creative connection that transcends time and music.
The redefining of R&B
In fact, back in 2019, Moore was mentored by Horace Brown, Buddy Wike, and Mr. Cheeks. Since, he has carved out his own lane as he has continued to sharpen his skills. Remaining a force to be reckoned with, he brings a refreshing, vibrant sound that redefines the marriage of Hip Hop and R&B.
“Just a kid from Queens who just loves music and loves the creative space. Took me a while to really live in my truth. I went to college, I work as a teacher and college counselor but I didn’t give up on that dream. And now we’re here so it’s took me a while, but I’m happy to finally be here!”
Nonetheless, his music is a one-of-a-kind blend of artistry, originality, and emotion. Moore is one of the most promising performers of his generation, and his new sultry single “Compromise” proves it. As his new EP is in the works, it’s clear that D. Moore is an artist on rapid rise.
